We’re still riding the wave of excitement from Wednesday’s event at Chalmers Courts! We had the privilege of hosting HUD Acting Secretary Adrienne Todman for a tree planting ceremony—“Adrianne’s Tree”—to symbolize her commitment to ensuring safe, affordable housing in Austin. We also shared a bit of Texas spirit by presenting Secretary Todman with some UT gear. We’re grateful for her support and the collaborative momentum driving this work forward. Moments like these remind us why we strive to create welcoming homes for all; because every family deserves stability, opportunity, and a place to thrive. Thank you, Secretary Todman, for joining us and reinforcing the importance of strong partnerships in transforming the housing landscape of our city.

HUD Acting Secretary?Adrianne Todman, Mayor Kirk Watson, Travis County Judge Andy Brown, Candace Valenzuela, and Council Member Ryan Alter joined us and Austin Habitat for Humanity for a special wall raising and memorial signing honoring President Jimmy Carter’s commitment?to affordable housing. By bringing together city, county, and federal leaders, we’re continuing President Carter’s legacy in East Austin—ensuring more families have access to safe, affordable homes. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) has secured a $750,000 grant from St. David's Foundation through their Housing + Health Funding Opportunity! This significant investment will support the modernization of Santa Rita Courts—an 84-year-old property in need of updated, energy-efficient housing—and improve access to safe, affordable homes and integrated health services for families in Central Texas. By addressing the social determinants of health through this initiative, we aim to help families thrive in healthier, more supportive communities. We look forward to collaborating with St. David’s Foundation and our partners to enhance quality of life and health equity. Learn more about Santa Rita Courts here: https://lnkd.in/gFgyXDER
