The Housing Authority of Snohomish County (HASCO), in collaboration with community partners, is gearing up for the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Count on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This yearly initiative continues to be a fundamental part of Snohomish County's dedication to comprehending and tackling homelessness in the community. This year, HASCO is putting on a Resource Fair in addition to the survey by partnering up with Homage Senior Services Programs & Services , Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County , Sound Pathways, Volunteers of America Western Washington, & Washington State Department of Health to offer supplemental services and comfort kits. The Resource Fair will be hosted by HASCO at their office located on 12711 4th Ave West, Everett, WA. “2024 was our first time participating in the PIT Count.”, says Jodie Halsne, HASCO’s Tenant Based Assistance Director, she continued: “We decided to put together a Resource Fair in addition to doing the PIT Count because we see the need everyday. We're hopeful that this initiative will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve and contribute to reducing homelessness in our community." #pitcount #pointintimecount #homelessnessawarness

Yesterday, HASCO was bestowed the Washington State Auditor's Office Stewardship Award in recognition of our commitment to making government work better. “We’re honored to have been selected for this award,” said Pam Frost, HASCO’s Director of Finance, “Our staff here is very knowledgeable and diligent about the work they do." On Tuesday, HASCO’s Alliance for Housing Affordability Liaison & Project Manager, Chris Collier , presented the facts on housing on a panel at the Economic Alliance Snohomish County's Coffee Chat on Housing. Good job Chris!

HASCO is thrilled to have collaborated with the Housing Hope team in making #MadronaHighlands a reality! This property will offer housing for 52 families in South Snohomish County, each at varying stages of their journey out of poverty. Half of the units are designated for low-income families earning less than 50% of the Area Median Income, made possible through vouchers provided by HASCO. HASCO will be contributing about $474,000 per year in financial support to Madrona Highlands, ultimately granting $10 million over the life of the project. The other half will accommodate families transitioning from homelessness, who will benefit from a comprehensive level of services that will gradually decrease as they achieve stability. “Madrona Highlands exemplifies the collaborative efforts of partners and the community in creating affordable housing,” stated Jodie Halsne, the Tenant-Based Assistance Director for HASCO. “Seventeen months have passed swiftly, and we are finally able to provide these families with the assistance they require. We look forward to our partnership with Housing Hope on future projects.” Affordable and accessible housing is currently in high demand but remains in short supply. Nationwide, there is an estimated deficit of approximately 4 million homes, which complicates the ability to both purchase and rent properties. In Snohomish County, the average market rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $2,410, while the maximum allowable rent for a two-bedroom unit at Madrona Highlands is set at $1,370. #affordablehousing #snohomishcounty #housingsolutions
