After a challenging year, marked by high interest rates and soaring construction costs, we remain hopeful?that the post-pandemic economy will settle and?spur a housing boom in San Francisco. Our optimism is fueled by the wave of pro-housing policies passed at the state and local levels in recent years. Landmark legislation like?Senate Bill 423?and?Assembly Bill 2243?have transformed the housing landscape, making it faster and easier than ever to get a project entitled and permitted. It's time to build an academic village in San Francisco. I met with the leadership of UC Law today, where we discussed their vision to invest in more student housing in the Tenderloin, alongside more support for community safety. I look forward to partnering with them on this bold vision for the neighborhood in the year ahead.

San Francisco is designated as a pro-housing city! The designation is proof that under the leadership of Mayor London Breed, the city has made significant strides toward solving its longstanding housing challenges. While our housing supply is still far too low and rents are far too high, we're confident the structural changes the city has taken to make it easier to build new homes will lead to a more affordable and equitable future. https://lnkd.in/g8YwUuUy
There's a reason why the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and Housing Action Coalition oppose Prop 33 — it could have the unintended consequence of making our housing shortage and affordability crisis worse. If Prop 33 passes, it will allow wealthy, exclusive, anti-growth cities to impose requirements that would make building new housing financially infeasible. This would upend the significant pro-housing progress California has made in the past few years. We support expanding tenant protections, but Prop 33 is a trojan horse that would give NIMBY cities the power to block new housing development. NO on Prop 33 ? https://lnkd.in/gvnRasYu
