?? Simulated Chemical Attack Response in Barcelona ?? On January 15 and 16, agents from the Catalan Police - Mossos d'Esquadra, alongside emergency services such as Medical Emergency System (SEM), Barcelona’s Urban Guard, and Civil Protection, participated in two NRBQ (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological, and Chemical) attack simulation exercises at hotels in Barcelona. These exercises, part of the European Hothreat Project, were funded by the European Commission's Internal Security Fund and coordinated by members of the Biohazard Protection Center at the University of Lodz, Poland. ?? The Scenario: A simulated intentional chemical contamination of a closed space with a terrorist background, targeting a VIP and their security detail inside the hotel. The goal was to evaluate the response of hotel staff in alerting emergency services and implementing evacuation and containment protocols. ? Key Takeaways: ??
