?? Hotel School’s Cohort 20 Graduation! ?? What a way to end the year than with 15 fantastic graduates ready to take their first steps into the hospitality industry! With the added bonus of returning alumni sharing their experiences and advice. Choosing to embark on a new direction in life isn’t always easy, and we are so proud of this milestone group - the largest cohort to date - and their immense hard work to reach this point. Hotel School’s support will now continue over the next 12 months to help with employment and progression alongside our host of fabulous Employer Partners across London. Our thanks go to every single one of our supporters, ambassadors, volunteers, partners and industry champions who have helped Hotel School reach this point over the past 7 years. ?October’s After School Club - an evening celebrating our Employer Partners ? Every few months we host a taste of appreciation cooking session and dinner led by one of our graduates. It’s a night for our amazing Hotel School Employer Partner champions to come together and learn new cooking techniques - and our way of saying a huge thank you for their ongoing dedication. This month we made an Uzbek dinner, guided by Graduate Sanobar! We learnt the art of Mantu creation (steamed dumplings), perfecting Qalama (pan-fried, layered flat bread) and the essential Chakka (chopped fresh herb yogurt dip)! ??The return of the Hotel School softball team! ?? Last Sunday we gathered an all star team to play in London Hospitality Festival 2024 softball tournament. Under the heat of the September sun we celebrated team spirit and the amazing hospitality sector. We were delighted (and amazed!) to finish third overall! A HUGE thank you to our players, comprised of epic Employer Partners from Park Plaza London Waterloo and Extract Coffee Roasters alongside our graduate William and members of the home team. Congratulations to Park Plaza Waterloo’s winning Stefanie Hardy MI FIH who took part in the first ever Charities of Fire race! A fantastic day all round and excellent to see everyone. ?? It was fantastic to attend another graduation last week, this time for Hotel School Cohort 19! This initiative teaches hospitality skills to homeless and vulnerable people, matching them with sustainable employment and supporting them through their first steps into work. The programme consists of: Inspire: Kicking off with the ‘Appetiser’ taster session, offering insights into the hospitality industry and inspiring participants with success stories and industry leaders. Teach: A 10-week ‘Main Course’ covers essential skills in service, kitchen, housekeeping, and reception. Graduates earn a nationally recognised certificate and job placement support. Connect: They match their trained students with the right employers, offering work experience placements to build confidence and readiness. Support: Graduates receive in-work buddies and professional mentors, with ongoing support for at least 12 months to ensure successful integration into the workforce. Last week we celebrated the achievements of our latest group of fantastic graduates - Hotel School's Cohort 19 - hosted at Extract Coffee Roasters, who have generously supported us from day one. It was a wonderful occasion to honour the hard work and dedication of our students over the past 10 weeks. From the classroom to the kitchen, work experience to workshops, this group have shown huge ambition and potential! We look forward to seeing where their next steps in hospitality and beyond will take them, and support as they embark on their new adventures in the workplace. ? Graduate Workshop ? Last Thursday, Desirée Dils, Founder of Hospitality Mastery, hosted a workshop for 8 Hotel School graduates. Desirée, who works with 5-star hotels worldwide, shared her fascinating insights and experience with the group. Workshop Highlights: 1?? Self Mastery: Focusing on building a success mindset through learning about how to manage different emotions to achieve goals. 2?? Delighting Guests: Learning small but impactful gestures to always enhance guest experiences. The atmosphere was positive and energetic, and our graduates left feeling more confident and inspired.
