About last night…. What has very quickly become one of my favourite events to attend, the Hospitality Rides fundraising dinner hosted at the beautiful The Farmhouse at Redcoats by James Nye Mark Stretton Tess Pennington and Damian Saunders to raise vital funds for us at the Licensed Trade Charity and our friends Only A Pavement Away. So many great and generous people in the room digging deep to help transform lives and unleash potential and a whopping ￡36,000 raised! I did my first speech as a representative of the charity and felt so very proud talking about the work we do.

With circa six months to go, the countdown to Hospitality Rides 2025 is on! This time, our MD Tess Pennington will joining the dedicated individuals cycling to raise money for Only A Pavement Away and the Licensed Trade Charity – both who do amazing work across all areas of hospitality, providing support and helping rebuild lives. The 2025 bike ride will see Hospitality Rides cycle across Taiwan, which is set to be the most challenging route yet. My Hospitality Rides training has started, nothing crazy after several months off the bike, but it’s a start. I represented the legends at Lucky Saint | B Corp? with my socks and hat - they’re great supporters of the ride. This year will mean even more to me as I join the Licensed Trade Charity board and support the growth of the organisation to raise more funds and help more people. LET THE TRAINING BEGIN. ? I’m a little terrified, but also more than a little excited to share that I will be joining the incredible team participating in the 2025 Hospitality Rides challenge. I’m not much of a cyclist but this is such an incredible initiative that supports two vital industry charities - Only A Pavement Away?and Licensed Trade Charity?and I feel truly honoured to take part. Over the past three years, thanks to ride founder Katy Moses CBII and the incredible support from the hospitality, leisure, food, and drink community, Hospitality Rides (previously known as Pedalling for Pubs) has raised over ￡1 million(!). For my part, I’m determined to help add, even a little, to what is already an incredible achievement. ? I will be joining a group of dedicated individuals who will be spending the next several months training hard in order to cycle across Taiwan in Spring 2025. ??It’s going to be tough – I’ve been told this is the most challenging route yet – but that’s what makes me more determined.?Not only to raise as much money and awareness as possible, but to make Fleet Street?proud (particularly as Mark Stretton?has taken the charge on our behalf to date). ? Only A Pavement Away?and the Licensed Trade Charity do phenomenal work across all areas of hospitality, providing crucial support?to those facing difficulties and helping to rebuild lives. It’s not Monday so that hashtag is gone, but in all honesty no motivation is needed when you are part of the fabulous Hospitality Rides community who slip into something quite uncomfortable to traverse hills wether that be in the UK under Steven Alton CBII or in hotter, more torrid locations abroad with Katy Moses CBII. I thought that whilst it’s still some way off, I need to start preparing for #Taiwan in May 2025. Let’s face it, the people the brilliant charities in Licensed Trade Charity and Only A Pavement Away support get no breaks, so why should we.
