We are beyond proud to celebrate Kathryn McPherson, a dedicated and compassionate nurse at Hospice Austin's Christopher House, who has received the Heart and Hope Award from Harrell Funeral Home. This award is so meaningful because it came from the family of one of her patients. Their heartfelt nomination spoke to the extraordinary care, kindness, and comfort she provided during one of life’s most difficult moments. At Hospice Austin, we see every day how our nurses pour their hearts into caring for patients and their families. Katie embodies the very best of hospice care. Offering not just medical support, but unwavering love and presence that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Please join us in celebrating Katie and the incredible impact she has on the lives of those she serves!
关于我们
As the first hospice in Central Texas, Hospice Austin was established more than 40 years ago by a group of doctors and concerned citizens for the sole purpose of serving families. Since then, we have provided end-of-life care to any person who needs us, regardless of the complexity of the illness, cost of care or a patient’s ability to pay. Hospice Austin is a nonprofit hospice. That means our resources are not used to benefit shareholders but instead go back into services that benefit patients and their families. It allows us to fulfill our mission of providing our patients with the very highest standards of care. We believe every person deserves peace and comfort, with care that emphasizes independence and respect and is tailored to his or her individual preferences.

Last week, our very own Chaplain April Long was honored as a nominee at the Harrell Funeral Homes Caregiver of the Year banquet! Nominated by the families she has so lovingly served; April’s impact was reflected in the heartfelt words they shared about her. To celebrate her dedication, a special name plaque was created with words most often used to describe her—compassionate, supportive, caring—just to name a few. We are beyond grateful to have April on our team, bringing comfort and kindness to our patients and families. At Hospice Austin, our holistic approach to hospice and palliative care includes a team of dedicated chaplains who provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. Whether offering a listening ear, words of comfort, or simply being present, they are here to walk alongside you during life’s most tender moments.
