Today, we announced the release of our 2024 Annual Metrics Report. This year’s data reflects significant progress in the racing-related fatality rate. The rate of 0.90 is a 35% decrease from the rate of 1.39 reported by the Jockey Club’s Equine Injury Database in 2021—the last full year prior to the launch of HISA’s Racetrack Safey Program—and a 27% decrease from the rate of 1.23 that HISA reported last year. Meanwhile, non-HISA tracks saw an increase in their fatality rate to 1.76 per 1,000 starts. The report also includes the first-ever nationwide reporting of training-related fatalities. Yesterday, HISA and Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) traveled to Washington, D.C. to share key updates on our progress toward advancing equine safety and integrity in Thoroughbred racing. HISA champions Congressman Andy Barr and Congressman Paul D. Tonko opened the briefing and presentations from HISA CEO Lisa Lazarus and HIWU Executive Director Ben Mosier reflected on the industry's accomplishments—highlighting a decline in equine fatalities and strengthened testing protocols. We appreciate the continued support from Congress and staff for our mission and look forward to our continued collaboration with racing stakeholders! #Horseracing #EquineWelfare #JockeySafety

Among other developments: - We announced that 2024 saw a record low in racing-related fatalities at HISA tracks. - We announced we are pursuing cases against 14 individuals who allegedly engaged in a widespread conspiracy to defraud Thoroughbred horse racing in Pennsylvania.
