We had a great day last week with our final AI and Robotics Youth Panel workshop exploring health and care research! ?? The workshop introduced the cohort to the Global Research Institute in Health and Care Technologies, which addresses significant global health challenges. Their mission is to develop innovative solutions to the most pressing health challenges of our time, including cancer, chronic diseases, mental health, and global health threats, with a particular focus on improving patient care and health outcomes across the globe. Throughout the afternoon, we introduced the Youth Panel to a range of different research fields, showcasing demos of the health and care immersive suite featuring our healthcare robot Alex - as well as some of the amazing work taking place as part of research projects including HorizonSMILE, Medical Device Manufacturing Centre, and the u-Care Project. Alongside research, we were delighted to be joined by artist Jenny Capon live drawing the session ?? We introduced the Youth Panel cohort to facilitation skills, research career journeys and started thinking more about the event we're co-designing with them at Adam Smith's Panmure House in April. ?? Exciting Experience at the HW Engage AI & Robotics Youth Panel! ?? I had the opportunity to attend an event as a voluntary research assistant for the HorizonSMILE project at Heriot-Watt University, where we showcased a demo of our mental health game to a group of 15-18-year-olds. It was inspiring to see young minds engage with technology designed to promote well-being, and their insights provided valuable perspectives on how we can enhance user experience and accessibility. It was a fantastic experience to bridge psychology, AI, and youth engagement, reinforcing the importance of collaborative research in shaping mental health interventions. At HorizonSMILE, we believe that video games are the current language of young people, and we use this tool to bring them closer to mental health issues in an entertaining and meaningful way??? During the second day of the FITECU event at the HUB Innovación La Aldehuela - Living Lab Workshops, 65?children from IES María de Molina de Zamora participated in the testing of the video game, developing ideas and providing valuable feedback. Thanks to our partner Fundación INTRAS. ?Qué increíble experiencia en FITECU 2025! Tuvimos la oportunidad de mostrar las innovaciones tecnológicas que están transformando el sector sociosanitario. A lo largo de 3 días, exploramos avances en tecnología asistiva, robótica social, neurociencia y mucho más. Aquí te contamos lo más destacado de nuestra participación en este evento?? En el espacio HUB Innovación La Aldehuela – Talleres Living Lab, llevamos a cabo el “Taller de videojuegos y tecnología en desarrollo: conviértete en Alpha Tester”, donde contamos con la participación de 65 ni?os del IES María de Molina de Zamora. 1?? Los ni?os reflexionaron sobre la #soledadnodeseada y tuvieron la oportunidad de probar el robot social LOONA, dise?ado para reducir la soledad mediante interacciones emocionales. 2?? También probaron el videojuego HorizonSMILE sobre #saludmental, contribuyendo a su desarrollo y mejora al responder preguntas como: ?Qué opináis de acercar la salud mental mediante videojuegos? ?Qué es importante para ti en un videojuego? ?Qué opinas del protagonista y del villano? ?Qué cosas buenas ves en la herramienta y qué mejorarías? 3?? Además, usaron gafas de #RV para explorar diversas salas virtuales y realizaron ejercicios de memoria con la app de #estimulacióncognitiva del proyecto #SERENHe, dise?ada para mejorar las capacidades mentales de los mayores. Asimismo, presentamos SERENHe – Rehabilitación Integral y Accesible en el Hogar: Experiencia Real en un Mundo Virtual en el espacio Demos Tecnológicas del Show Lab Point. Y por último, participamos en la mesa de reflexión y experiencias: Living Lab como espacio de referencia para el impulso de la innovación social y tecnológica en el sector socio sanitario y el ecosistema territorial. ?? ?? La segunda jornada de FITECU ha sido muy intensa para la fundación. A primera hora de la ma?ana presentamos el uso de la #RealidadVirtual en el proyecto Serenhe, una plataforma de #rehabilitación integral y accesible desde los #hogares basada en las nuevas #tecnologías y con un enfoque holístico: rehabilitación física, cognitiva y emocional. Todo con el objetivo de mejorar la #autonomía personal, la participación social y la calidad de vida de las personas. El proyecto Serenhe está financiado a través de los fondos de recuperación económica Next Generation gestionados por la Gerencia de Servicios Sociales de la Junta de Castilla y León. Cuatro clases de Secundaria de un instituto zamorano nos visitaron en la feria a media ma?ana para probar el #videojuego y la app del proyecto HorizonSMILE, financiado por el programa Horizonte Europa de la UE, que fomenta buenas prácticas de #saludmental entre los #jóvenes. Además, los alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de utilizar las gafas de realidad virtual del proyecto Serenhe y de charlar con profesionales de la fundación sobre los efectos de la #soledad no deseada. Por la tarde, mostramos los primeros avances de una #app, todavía en desarrollo, que servirá de apoyo a nuestras personas usuarias con problemas de salud mental en ciertas circunstancias en las que no haya un profesional disponible de manera inmediata.
