At Horizons for Youth, we see spring as a reminder of the incredible potential in every student - with the right support systems, they bloom into future leaders, dreamers and change makers! ???? As we enter this season, we invite you to be part of the growth and volunteer! It’s never too late to join our Associate Board or as a mentor, and we’ll be looking for tutors and workshop coaches to join us in the new school year. ?? A huge congrats to the 11 incredible young women who completed their five-week STEM program with Milliman. ?? Throughout the course, they explored women’s economic rights in history, the power of saving, and the power of investing. The program culminated with presentations, where they shared their knowledge with over 100 professionals in honor of #InternationalWomensDay. Talk about confidence! We are proud of their hard work and are grateful to Milliman, Saba Rizvi and Amanda Carew for providing such a transformative experience. Here’s to breaking barriers and building brighter futures!

?? The holiday hustle may have delayed this post, but our excitement for our newest member of the Horizons team has been nonstop! Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Zoé, who joined the HFY fam in November. Zoé brings a wealth of experience, having worked in politics, at the Shedd Aquarium, and as a high school history teacher. Outside of her day job, you can find her exploring historic sites, hanging out with her Siamese cat, Kara, or looking for the best bites with her husband, Brian. ?? Thank you so much to National Louis University for inviting Horizons for Youth to your Inaugural Changemakers Fair yesterday! We loved getting to share space with other NPOs also working toward change in Chicago. We were incredibly happy at the number of students who had experience as peer mentors too, and can't wait to get them connected to our mission!

You all were amazing! Thanks so much for stepping in and helping make the 25th anniversary of this event so memorable! ??

Last night, a few of our 7-10th grade girls kicked off their workshop series with Milliman! Over the next few weeks, our girls will be working with their staff to learn about women’s impact on the workforce. In March, we’ll gather to hear what they’ve learned as they present to Milliman’s larger staff at their annual International Women’s Day Celebration! ?????? We can’t wait to hear what they’ve learned! Thanks to Milliman for this partnership!
