Horizons (A Family Service Alliance)

Earlier this fall the Youth LFS class spent an impactful day diving into the world of nonprofit advocacy and community service! ???? The day started at Waypoint Services with an introduction to nonprofit work and tours at Horizons (A Family Service Alliance) and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity to learn about their mission and services. ?? ?? ?? Back at Waypoint, students joined roundtable discussions exploring various nonprofits focused on education, the environment, and mental health/substance abuse. ???? ?? Lunch at The Arc of East Central Iowa gave us a chance to connect with participants and explore their services, followed by an eye-opening session on local homelessness led by the Executive Director at Willis Dady Homeless Services . We ended the day learning about career pathways in human and social services through Kirkwood Community College and how local nonprofit Iowa Giving Crew started from a challenge among friends. Big thanks to all the nonprofits, presenters, and planning committee members who made this day so meaningful! CRBT Trunk or Treat 2024 ???? Thank you to all of our employees, non-profits, and parents who brought their trick or treaters, we had a spooktacular time! Congrats to our non-profit trunk winners who received a donation of $500 and $250: 1st Place - Horizons: Meals on Wheels, Financial Wellness & NTS 2nd Place - Willis Dady Homeless Services And we can't forget our employee winners as well, Sam Connell taking first and Kae Lorenzo taking second!
