We were so happy to attend the Internship Career Fair for the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University last week. Our Human Resources Department had such a wonderful time meeting with the students and faculty and are extra grateful for those who stopped by the table to meet us! ❤️
✨New Hire Spotlight✨ The Arizona Team is excited to announce that Elijah Winfrey joined us October 28th, as our newest Accounts Payable team member!! Elijah was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska and moved to Arizona in 2019 with his wife Brittany! In his free time, you can find Elijah studying or reading, as he is a double agent... juggling full time school and full-time work! Outside of that, he loves going outdoors. He enjoys fishing, camping, and travelling. Fun Fact: He has been to 16 of 50 states and 2 countries! Also, as an Alaskan Native, he takes pride in creating traditional beaded items like gloves, moccasins, and earrings, it is an important way for him to stay connected to his heritage. Elijah and Brittany share their home with three cats: Dom Perignon (called Peri), Versace (goes by Sace), and Shay. Peri and Sace are Arizona natives, while Shay hails from Alaska. What motivates him? Opportunity. He doesn't take anything for granted, being that he grew up as an Alaskan Native, he faced a lot of unique challenges. Being geographically and culturally cut off from the mainland US, he came to understand that in order to achieve his goals, he'd need to pave his own path forward. Why did you join Horizon? We loved our team builder of solving the who-dun-it themed case files. Congrats to both teams that were able to solve the crime!
About Monday Night... 🏈 Our Phoenix team had a great time at the Casita Garden Club watching the Cardinals take on the Chargers for Monday Night Football. It was a fantastic opportunity to unwind, enjoy some delicious food, and connect with colleagues outside the usual work setting. 🌟 Meet the Team Tuesday! 🌟 This week, we’re excited to introduce you to Nick Gonzalez, our dedicated AR Clerk! (No picture, but truly an integral part of our team!) Originally from Chicago, Nick is a die-hard Cubs fan who made the move to a warmer climate in the summer of 2021. He’s found his happy place among the mountains and enjoys the dry weather! In his role at Horizon, Nick is responsible for sending payment applications to GCs, lien waivers, and aging reports. He loves the independence that comes with his position and appreciates the supportive, family-oriented culture here. Since joining us in January, he’s made a significant impact in less than a year. Nick thrives on the autonomy and responsibility his role offers, allowing him to focus on what needs to be done while contributing to the team’s success. In his free time, you can find Nick on the tennis court—he picked up the sport after moving here and has been playing for three years! He also has a love for baseball, having played a lot growing up. At home, Nick shares his life with two playful kitten brothers, Buddha and Simba. These feline companions keep things lively!
