Let me tell you I have personally done this multiple times, it is super hard to do especially when you have zero guidance. What I had when I started my non-Franchise business was industry knowledge, but I was obviously not with the times when you have to do all the behind the scenes to market those products and services to your customers. I knew how to get them because I did that on a daily basis, but there was a lot more to it than just calling on customers and selling them on your services. I speak to many of them, who have these ideas and some of them are actually good. What most of them lack is true innovation, systems, processes, and capital. Most individuals who start a business truly end up buying themselves a day job versus building a company. I like to call them the LLC'ers of the world. They have an LLC for tax purposes or a tax ID so that the IRS can contact them accordingly. Many of those LLC's are inactive and not properly registered with the state. From the very basics of starting a business, to managing a business, it takes a fine skill to do so. That's why I believe a franchise can really aid and help those who want to own a business and they have all the tools and blueprints needed to be successful from the start. Of course no one can guarantee anyone success, but if you follow the proven system, the chances of success are significantly greater than going out there and starting our own business from scratch. I personally have done both, and I can tell you that they are both different but starting your own business without any assistance is much harder than starting a franchise. At Horizon Consulting Partners it was a great time to visit the campus of The Ohio State University and see there football stadium The Ohio State University Department of Athletics It was really exciting to visit a university that so established and it's been around since the mid 1800s. So many people have graduated from the grade institution, and have become professional professionals in their field. I'm a big believer in education, I may not be a big believer in the cost of education today because so many students and adults are in so much student loan debt so many years afterwards that it's sad to hear and watch people pay monthly payments, and see the interest rates keep them at the same exact balance where their student loan was, and they haven't even made a dent into their student loan debt. I wish more institutions around the country would teach their students financial independence, how to get out of debt, how to build wealth, the healthy way, how to not get yourself into credit card, or student loan, or car loan debt. People are not teaching others about debt to income ratios, the effect that has on your credit or borrowing money if you do borrow money.
