  • Horizon Honors Schools Executive Director Paul Schneider, Horizon Honors Elementary School Principal Laura Wanstreet, and Horizon Honors Board Member/West Regional Director for the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching presented at the Arizona Department of Education's 2025 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Conference earlier this week! Their presentation was entitled: "Effectively Using Student Work to Understand Student Progress and Make Intentional Instructional Decisions" and examined the power of strengthening a reflective culture, leveraging student work as a reflective tool, and developing a reflective coaching guide. #HorizonHonors #EagleExcellence

  • The annual AP School Honor Roll has been announced and Horizon Honors High School received the silver award! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. Award criteria includes: - College Culture: 40% or more of graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school.? - College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school.? - College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school. At least 1 of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year?   • We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Laura Owes has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal of Horizon Honors Secondary School, effective at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. For the remainder of the current school year, she will continue as the Science Mentor Teacher while also training for her new role and occasionally stepping into Assistant Principal duties. Mrs. Owes brings over 22 years of experience as an educator, excelling as both a classroom teacher and a mentor teacher. Her dedication and leadership make her a valuable asset to our school community, and we are thrilled to have her in this vital role. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Owes on her new position and supporting her as she transitions into this exciting new chapter.

  • GivingTuesday?is an annual global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity! This year GivingTuesday was Tuesday, December 3, 2024. We made it! We hit our goal of raising $40,000! Thank you to the 270 donors who made this dream possible. We are humbled and overwhelmed by our community's generosity. This year we asked?for funds to update a large area of the West Courtyard that our students and staff will utilize before, during, and after school!
