Here's more of our HopeCitizens at the GHCI! What an amazing experience it was for our HopeCitizens to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration India (GHCI) 2024! The event was a perfect blend of learning and fun, and our girls soaked in every bit of it. From attending inspiring sessions and gaining valuable insights to diving into fun activities like gaming, painting, and endless chats, it was a day full of energy and excitement. For many of our girls, it was their first time experiencing something so grand, and they didn’t just attend—they owned it! But what truly stole the show? Our HopeCitizens from Madurai, Chennai, and Bangalore meeting each other in person! Watching them laugh, share stories, and build stronger bonds was pure magic. The joy in their faces said it all—it was not just an event, it was a celebration of their journey, strength, and dreams. “We want to be like you when we become old!” The best compliment any one can receive ever. These bright and questioning young minds I had the honour to meet and spend time with at the AnitaB.org India AnitaB.org #GHCI24 in Bangalore. The pride of HopeWorks Foundation these young girls are curious and courageous making us rethink our own definitions of goals and ambitions. When jacintha jayachandran Jacintha told me that if I would be happy to talk to them , she wouid arrange a couple of meetings between sessions I was like - of course I wouid like nothing better than that. In fact we managed two such sessions and I came away from both not just impressed with the girls’ brilliance and energy but very conscious of the undoubted place of privilege I come from. After my talk and sharing a little bit of my story, these were the questions I had to field. After reading them you will understand what I meant. How did you deal with criticism from your family ? What were you most afraid of ? What about fear of failure ? Did you face that ? Why do I feel so guilty about the course I want my life to take ? How can I deal with all the feelings of regret I have ? Why do I feel so alone ? To answer these questions I had to delve deep into my own reserves of experiences and perhaps some feelings I had even refused to face. That I was able to identify with some of their emotions and experiences speaks a lot of the mettle these girls are made of. Coming from challenged backgrounds in all manner of speaking , their hunger for a better place in the scheme of things is nothing short of admirable . They are neither afraid of hard work nor of facing up to the many challenges thrown at them. They are the future of our country and they give me hope.

Two Days of Inspiration and Transformation at #GHCI 24! We had the incredible opportunity to bring our HopeCitizens from Madurai, Chennai, and Bangalore to the amazing #GHCI 24 event. For many of our girls, this was a series of firsts—their first time stepping outside their districts, staying away from home, and attending such a large-scale event. It was truly a transformative experience!? It was heartwarming to watch them explore, interact, and soak in all that GHCI 24 had to offer. From speaking with #women tech leaders to engaging with companies, they showed such courage and determination to make the most of this #opportunity. They are trailblazers in their families, being the first to #graduate—or soon to graduate—college, and their excitement and eagerness to learn were incredible to witness.? The girls gained invaluable insights into the tech industry and the incredible women leading it. They had the privilege of personally meeting Chitra Gurjar, who encouraged them to“go for what they love” and reminded them that it’s never too late to switch paths if they find something they’re passionate about.? Another unforgettable moment came during an interaction with Viji Venkatesh, who answered questions from our girls about dealing with guilt, regret, opposition from family, and fear of failure. Her advice was deeply impactful and gave them the confidence to keep moving forward despite the challenges they face.? The event was filled with so many inspiring stories and lessons from women across the world, and our girls returned with a renewed sense of #hope, #courage, and #ambition.? Past Sunday, our girls at HopeWorks Foundation experienced an inspiring and enriching day of learning and self-growth through two incredible sessions tailored for their respective batches. ???? Batch 4: They dove deep into the art of Problem-Solving and Decision-Making in an engaging session led by Diksha Fouzdar. Through interactive discussions and practical scenarios, the girls gained valuable tools to navigate challenges, think critically, and make empowered decisions in their personal and professional lives. ?? Batch 5: Confidence got a creative boost with Poulomee Mitra, who conducted a session on Makeup Basics - Empowering Confidence Through Makeup. It wasn’t just about beauty but about self-expression and the power of feeling confident in their own skin. Poulomee’s tips and techniques helped the girls see makeup as a form of self-care and empowerment. ?
