The first few weeks of our Spring 2025 Internship have us bustling with excitement! We've been hard at work mentoring our interns with the community, project management, marketing, administrative skills necessary to run an impact-driven start-up like HMA :) If you work in music education or community service with **under-resourced youth in the San Fernando Valley** and know any individuals or groups of kids aged 12-18 in that demographic who could benefit from joining a FREE music industry program in North Hollywood get in touch! Can you spot Alan Person? ?? #WheresWaldo Introducing another one of our amazing board members, Alan Person. He is currently the CFO of Hopeless Records, and has worked at the company for more than 25 years. A talented percussionist in his free time, Al’s love of music and helping others inspired him to join the Hopeless Music Academy board. He is an active performing drummer and percussionist in the LA Area. Alan Person is responsible for all company operations including the supervision of company staff (20+ employees), budgeting, accounting, the processing of all incoming and outgoing company royalty statements, and many business and legal affairs functions. Mr. Person holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Industry Studies from CSU, Northridge, and over the years has occasionally taught various Music Industry Studies courses as needed at CSUN and USC. We’re grateful to have his help at?Hopeless Music Academy! Who do you want to learn about next? ??

We’re SO excited to expose youth to career pathways in the music industry, and can’t wait to bring our graduates to events like this! Met some amazing music business and music creative professionals at the grand opening for?SOCAN's?new location in LA. Complete with space for traveling Canadian creators, a music studio, pool, yard, and office space, the SOCAN LA crew is killing it. Thrilled to introduce another one of our amazing board members - Norinne DeGal! A true creative, with a passion for the arts - it is an honor to have Norinne on the Hopeless Music Academy team. Norinne is the proud owner of WALNUT WALLPAPER out of Los Angeles, a curated collection of?wallpaper and fabric sourced from around the world. Her attention to detail and immense creativity is immediately evident through her work. She has been featured in various notable publications including both the The New York Times, and Chicago Tribune.
