We loved seeing our incredible Co-Founder Deborra-lee Furness and her husband, Hugh, telling the story of Hopeland's launch, our mission to support vulnerable children worldwide, and the huge impact of Global Citizen over the last decade! Let's continue to work together for children! #newyork #nyc #concert #event #centralpark #deborraleefurness #hughjackman #children #charity #poverty
关于我们
There are tens of millions of orphans in the world. That is not just saddening, it’s dangerous. The tragedy is these children are being physically, mentally, emotionally damaged. They will not thrive. 1 in 3 is homeless, 1 in 5 have criminal records, 1 in 7 is involved in prostitution, 1 in 10 commit suicide. If all the orphans in the world were in one place, it would be one of the world’s largest countries but they are not. They are spread out all over the globe. Alone, invisible and unheard. To change this, we are creating a country, Hopeland. And inviting the world to become its citizens so that together we can ensure each and every orphan benefits from the love of a family. In the face of this crisis, the citizens of Hopeland pledge to elevate the voice of the orphans, to make the invisible visible and to protect the right of every child to know the love of a family. Hopeland citizens choose to see and experience the whole world as a family.

We are proud to share with you our 2024 Annual Report - recapping a year where we focused on building stronger families and creating brighter futures! In the past year we have built on the impact of our hugely successful orphanage trafficking campaign by delivering on the ground all around the world. We have continued to push our campaign to end orphanage trafficking and delivered on the ground for children impacted by this wicked crime; hosted events that spread the message that every child needs a safe, loving family; and delivered new programs in Australia and Madagascar. Finally we are pleased to announce a new partnership with The Stereotype Project Foundation that we believe will be truly transformational for children growing up in foster care. Read all about these achievements and more in our 2024 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/edCEavy5

Hopeland's petition to #EndOrphanageTrafficking has brought the message that every child should have a safe, loving family to a new audience. Thank you NERVO, Global Citizen, and the more than 50,000 people who have signed, for helping us spread the word. We continue to advocate and take action for children who are exploited by this horrific practice.

Hopeland advocates for the 5.4 million children living in orphanages to be raised in safe, loving families. We recently partnered with Walk Free to publish an article in the highly influential Global Slavery Index on this topic. Read the article in full here: https://lnkd.in/eBpWikSE

Hopeland's campaigns use action and advocacy to deliver impact for children separated from their families around the world. Today we feature two campaigns and their impact. ACTION: We rescued 353 children from the conflict in Ukraine - thanks to your generosity each of these children was brought to safety and given a life-saving backpack. ADVOCACY: Over 45,000 Hopeland supporters signed our petition successfully calling on the IPU to take vital action against Orphanage Trafficking! By working together to advocate and take action Hopeland is building a world where every child has a safe, loving family! #savechildren #ukraine #backpack #rescue #endtrafficking #trauma #charity #newyork #saveukraine #nyc #ukraine???? #children #endhumantrafficking #NERVO #hopeland #tomorrowland #endchildtrafficking #everychildmatters

Last week we shared how the Tech sector can be a source of opportunity for young people. Increasing access for all to jobs in the tech sector is vital which is why Hopeland has previously partnered with New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services and Google to create an innovative program for youth in foster care in New York City. Our program, TechLink, was one of the first ever public-private partnerships to provide coding classes, tech immersion, and career planning for older youth in foster care. Built upon their existing Code Next program we worked with Google to provide youth in foster care a unique experience that also included career and college planning support and mentoring. TechLink has helped many students in NYC develop a pathway towards a successful STEM career.

African American and Hispanic youth make up 45% of U.S. youth growing up in foster care - lived experience in the foster system can cause huge hurdles for people in later life, including finding reliable employment. Meanwhile the tech sector is creating jobs in the U.S. but young people who experience foster care aren't benefiting from this at the same rate as other Americans - only 15% of tech employees in the U.S. are either African American or Hispanic. This is why Hopeland created TechLink, a program designed to partner with leading tech companies to give youth in foster care access to coding classes and career coaching that will help them beat the odds and thrive.
