A Quilt Woven with Love, Loss, and Healing: HopeHealth volunteer Erin Hazlett recently shared a deeply personal experience about crafting a special quilt for Anne, who lost her loved one on our service. From the very beginning of her project, Erin sought the guidance of her dear friend Christine, who had always been a trusted source of wisdom for quilting projects. Erin and Christine shared the belief that all making—especially fiber arts, where natural materials are held close to warm both body and soul—was a form of healing. But neither of them knew just how deeply that belief would come full circle. Just as Erin reached the final stage of finishing the quilt, Christine and her son were tragically killed in the Black Hawk helicopter crash in DC. As Erin sat, hand-stitching the last binding, she held Christine, Anne, and Anne’s late husband, Ed, in her heart. She cried. She remembered. She stitched love into every fiber of the quilt. "In an imperfect world, it was a perfect place to put that love," Erin shared. "I think the creation of that quilt was as healing to me as I hope it is comforting to Anne." Christine’s wisdom had always been about healing through making—this time, she became the source of that healing for Erin. This story is a powerful reminder that love and connection live on through the work of our hands and the people we hold dear. That even in grief, there is meaning. And that in giving, we also receive. Thank you, Erin, for sharing your heart, your hands, and this incredible journey with us. ?? #HospiceCare #HealingThroughArt #HopeHealth #QuiltingWithLove #CompassionInAction

?? Bringing Comfort Through Art at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center ?? At HopeHealth, we believe in the profound impact of art in creating a peaceful and comforting environment for patients, families, and caregivers. That’s why, in partnership with Public Art Works, we refresh the artwork at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center every quarter—offering a moment of beauty and reflection in a time of transition. This quarter, we are honored to feature the work of Jessica Wheeler, a talented watercolorist whose art is recognized both locally and nationally. Jessica’s signature pouring technique creates soft, flowing blends of color that evoke a sense of peace and serenity—qualities that can provide solace in hospice care. Jessica has dedicated her life to art, with a background in illustration, design, and fine arts. She is an esteemed member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, New England Watercolor Society, and Art League of Rhode Island, among others. We are grateful to share her work with our community at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, where every thoughtful detail—including the art on the walls—helps create a space of comfort and care. #HopeHealth #PublicArtWorks #HealingThroughArt #JessicaWheelerArt #WatercolorArt #CompassionThroughCreativity #HospiceCare

?? National Caregivers Day is a moment to reflect on the incredible individuals who provide care, comfort, and compassion—especially family caregivers navigating end-of-life care. At HopeHealth , we witness firsthand the emotional, physical, and mental strength caregivers display every day. Their dedication is immeasurable, but they also need support. Here are 3 ways we can support family caregivers: ?? Acknowledge them—Simply saying “You’re doing an amazing job” can mean the world. ?? Offer help—A meal, a few hours of respite, or just listening makes a difference. ?? Provide resources—Education, support groups, and self-care tips ease the journey. To all the caregivers: We see you. We appreciate you. And we are here for you ?? Do you know a caregiver who deserves recognition? Tag them and share a word of gratitude below!

Activity blankets may seem simple, but for hospice and palliative patients, they are a source of comfort, calm, and engagement. The textures, buttons, zippers, and fabrics provide gentle stimulation for restless hands, help ease anxiety, and bring a sense of familiarity during uncertain times. These small yet powerful blankets also offer reassurance to families, knowing their loved ones have something comforting to hold onto. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers who dedicate their time and creativity to crafting these meaningful gifts. Your kindness makes a real impact, bringing warmth and care to those who need it most. ?? #ThreadsOfComfort #HospiceCare #PalliativeCare #VolunteerAppreciation #HandmadeWithLove
