October 10th is #WorldMentalHealthDay! It's a day we use to remind the world that absolutely anyone can struggle with their mental health and IT'S OK NOT TO BE OK. If you're struggling, reach out for support and resources - you don't have to suffer in silence. Visit hftd.org/find-help to enter your zip code and find local resources near you.

Can we tell you a secret? Depression is not a dirty word. As we head into the winter months, sometimes it's hard to describe exactly what we're feeling. While not an official diagnosis, online screenings such as the one available at www.hftd.org/screening can be a great tool in determining if extra support is needed. Take it, save it, and share it with someone who may need it. We're all in this together. #MentalHealthAwareness

This past Monday, a few members from our Education team had the opportunity to visit Telpochcalli School in Chicago, Illinois to teach our?mental health education to students. If we truly believe that youth are the key to our future, we must do the work now to educate them on proactive suicide prevention and empower them to start the conversation amongst their peers. ???? To learn more about our education offerings for students in grades 7th-12th, please visit www.hftd.org/isbe

Suicide Prevention is more than a hotline and we must continue this work for the change we need to see ??

After over a year of hard work, we finally had the opportunity to launch our Spanish programming earlier this month! The Things We Don't Say | Part 1, also known as Lo Que Callamos, is a free, fully Spanish mental health education session. Why the need for this specific programming? ? ? Maria Curiel, our Bilingual Education Coordinator, says it best "Mental health is for everyone, not just English speakers." Visit the link below to read more in this week's blog. Available in English AND Spanish! #MentalHealthEducation #ProactiveSuicidePrevention https://lnkd.in/dRFTZCvR

It was an amazing night of getting to connect with so many people from Spanish-speaking communities and we are already considering future plans! We want to also send a major congratulations and job well-done to our Education team for their amazing work in launching this program - what an incredible way to ensure we are continuing to make mental health education and resources accessible across various communities. Not local to Chicago, but still interested in a mental health education session in Spanish? Today is your opportunity! Join us TONIGHT, September 12, 2024 via Zoom for another free teaching of Lo Que Callamos | Parte 1. Register via www.peervention.org to secure your seat! It's still National Suicide Prevention Awareness month and today we're talking about language. Even after someone is no longer with us, please remember that the way we choose to talk about suicide matters. We want to always respect the dignity of the individual. #suicideprevention #mentalhealtheducation
