Introducing Hope For Hallie's Secretary of the Board, Nena Stetson, LCSW . Check out Nena's story with Hope For Hallie and what it means to be on the Board in her own words! ?? ?? "I first encountered Hope For Hallie at a suicide prevention and awareness event. At the time, I was new in my role as director of a university counseling center, and was feeling completely overwhelmed by the number of students seeking mental health support and the limited capacity of our counselors to meet the high demand. After sharing my concerns with Kevin Jackson, president and co-founder of Hope For Hallie, he embraced me in a huge bear hug. He then launched into action, outlining a plan to help me clear our waitlist by offering no-cost counseling sessions to our students through his network of licensed clinicians. The relief I felt that day was palpable, and that initial meeting laid the foundation for an incredible partnership with the university counseling center. About a year later, I enthusiastically accepted the offer to join the organization as a board member. Since joining the board, I have witnessed powerful interactions and first-hand accounts of those whose lives have been profoundly impacted by Hope For Hallie. As a clinician and mother of a young adult who has experienced mental health challenges, I am acutely aware of how difficult it can be to access care. Even for those with insurance, finding in-network providers with availability and the cost of co-pays can be huge barriers. Hope For Hallie fills that gap through their referral network and scholarship program, which is a lifeline for those who have been struggling to connect to care. The most fulfilling aspect of working with Hope For Hallie has been experiencing the generosity of people who align with Hope For Hallie's mission. Through their donations and countless volunteer hours, community members are the lifeblood of the organization; their support is what makes the work of Hope For Hallie possible. I'm looking forward to continuing to support the growth of Hope For Hallie as we build out existing structures and form new partnerships in the coming year."
