  • The Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, Inc.?closed on a $12 million NMTC transaction, financing a crucial funding gap in the $40 million historic renovation and expansion. The center was designed by the renowned architect Louis Kahn and originally opened in 1973. Set to open this fall, the space emphasizes accessibility and functionality, ensuring that more community members can enjoy the arts. A huge?congratulations?to the City of Fort Wayne's New Markets Revitalization Fund, U.S. Bank - Impact Finance, and?Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne?for making this impactful project possible! ? In late 2024, the National Park Service (NPS) formally listed the Arts United Center on the National Register of Historic Places, the official list of the Nation’s historic places worthy of preservation and part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America’s historic and archeological resources. ? Additionally, in 2023, PBS Fort Wayne created an award-winning documentary, “A Home for the Arts,” that beautifully showcases the history and significance of the Arts United Center.     NMTC Project Highlight: On February 1, 2025, the Urban Ecology Center of Washington Park celebrated its Grand Reopening, unveiling the 28,000 square foot renovated and expanded space that drew over 1,200 attendees! This exciting milestone marks an incredible addition to the Wisconsin community, strengthening its commitment to environmental education and engagement by creating accessible ways for people in Milwaukee to connect with nature.? ? A special?congratulations?to?Urban Ecology Center,?Forward Community Investments,?and Capital One?for their contributions to this impactful achievement. Hope Community Capital LLC is proud to have been part of the team supporting this project as part of the New Markets Tax Credit Program. ?   • ???Exciting News!??? We’re pleased to welcome?Lauren Obermueller Snapp as Hope Community Capital LLC’s new?Director of Impact Finance! As the Director of Impact Finance at Hope Community Capital, Lauren will lead the development and execution of strategic capital market initiatives, focusing on raising diverse funding sources and creating innovative financial products that drive sustainable community development and measurable social impact.?In other words, Lauren is putting the "capital" in Hope Community Capital LLC! Lauren brings over a decade of experience in the social impact sector, working across nonprofit and for-profit organizations to align community needs with financial solutions. Her work spans international programs in Southeast Asia, Eastern and Western Africa, and the U.S., where she has addressed issues like disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and post-crisis adoption processes. As the former Director of Impact Investments at equity2, Lauren developed multi-million-dollar project pipelines and introduced financial tools like Opportunity Zone Revolving Loan Funds and Revenue-Based Financing to support historically disinvested communities. Lauren holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (International Nonprofit Management) from Boston College and an MBA from Rockhurst University. Dave will focus on growing our affordable housing consulting practice, with an emphasis on supporting nonprofit affordable housing developers tackling the most complex affordable housing challenges. He will also support our clients in redeveloping church-owned real estate for affordable housing. David Porterfield?brings decades of professional experience in a wide range of community and economic development activities, including multifamily and single-family development, designing and operating financing programs, including both debt and equity resources. Dave has provided technical assistance to nonprofit organizations and state and local government agencies to design programs to address complex community and social challenges.?He has extensive experience in designing and operating housing and financing programs for special needs populations, including people with disabilities, those experiencing homelessness and military veterans.??A relentless innovator in and advocate for affordable housing, Dave is currently the Chairperson of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Community Advisory Council. We are so excited to host Leah Rogan on June 7th! ~~~ Leah Rogan is managing director of Enterprise’s New Markets Tax Credits business, one of the industry’s largest allocatees of NMTC awards with more than $1 billion in investments and over 100 high-impact properties financed.?After joining Enterprise in 2010, Leah served as a portfolio and compliance manager until 2014 when she joined Corporate Office Properties Trust, a real estate investment trust, as a principal analyst specializing in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Sarbanes-Oxley financial statement compliance and risk-based operational and compliance assessments. In 2017, she rejoined Enterprise as a senior asset manager when she oversaw a large portfolio of investments as well as assisted in the underwriting and originations for over $62 million in NMTC investments. As managing director, Leah leads originations, structuring, underwriting, closing and exits of Enterprise’s NMTC investments. Leah has over 15 years of real estate experience with a focus on commercial asset management, development, compliance, accounting and financial reporting. Prior to joining Enterprise, she worked for CohnReznick in the NMTC practice.?Leah holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from King’s College. With $4 million?in?NMTC financing, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is developing energy-efficient, single-family affordable homes on 13 vacant lots?in?Milwaukee's Harambee, Midtown, and Lindsay Heights neighborhoods. Over the next five years Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity's goal is to expand to build or rehab more than 30 homes per year, on their way to 40 per year by 2028. In 2024, Milwaukee Habitat plans to build 32 new construction homes in neighborhoods like King Park, Harambee, and Midtown, including the 13 homes that were financed with #NMTC!?This is incredibly important work in Milwaukee, where 1 in 3 renters spend half or more of their income on housing. This?investment is about more than building homes; it's about building hope and fostering equity?in?our community. We are proud to be part of this transformative project! In this role, Chris is leading the launch of Hope National Impact Fund, a national New Markets Tax Credit syndication platform. Chris brings over 25 years of experience in the community bank sector where he developed expertise in public and private equity investments, capital raising and merger and acquisition transactions, and valuation of companies. Most recently, Chris was Vice President at a national Community Development Financial Institution, where he was head of the investing business line that provided equity and debt capital to mission-focused organizations.
