Convening partners from across Indiana to research & advocate for housing stability policy solutions.
关于我们
The Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition (HHNC) was formed by members of Indiana’s housing security advocacy community in April 2020 to support advocacy and education related to housing and homelessness prevention in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Staffed by Prosperity Indiana through advocacy and coalition building grants from the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Central Indiana Community Foundation, HHNC convenes partners from across Indiana to advocate for immediate, medium- and long-term housing stability policy solutions and conduct education and research to achieve federal, state, and local policies for an equitable response and recovery to the pandemic and beyond. Members of the HHNC Steering Committee are leaders in the Indiana housing advocacy and education space.

PRESS RELEASE: In Light of Lack of Legislative Progress, the Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition Calls for Creation of Commission on Housing Affordability & Stability INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Following the failure of several bipartisan pieces of legislation that would have improved enforcement of habitability standards in Indiana, and in light of other legislation that would have undermined successful approaches to reducing homelessness, the Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition is calling on Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to appoint a Commission on Housing Affordability and Stability to advance practical solutions to these critical challenges. UPDATED ACTION ALERT! We need your help to urge the Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee to strengthen & support SB 243 Landlord-Tenant Relations at its hearing this Wednesday, January 31. https://lnkd.in/eU9ce-q SB 243, a bill authored by Sen. Andrea Hunley and Sen. Greg Walker could be a commonsense solution to Indiana's housing quality and affordability crisis if the bill is amended and improved to offer stronger protections to Hoosier families across the entire state. Ask the Senators who represent your home and service area to make SB 243 stronger by: (1) Requiring that if a property fails an initial inspection by local health department/code enforcement, it cannot be re-rented until the health & safety problems are rectified; and (2) Applying SB 243 to the entire state of Indiana, rather than only Marion County.
