Happy #HoodieFeatureFriday! This week, we are spotlighting Office Coordinator, Maryann Garvin. Maryann has been with Hood for almost three years as our Office Coordinator. Before joining us full-time, Maryann interned with us while she was attending Clemson University. Since entering the construction industry, she has been a very active member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) as she is currently on the Board of Directors as Recording Secretary and serves as Marketing Committee Chair, Women In Construction (WIC) Week Chair, and is a co-chair on several other committees. She has been a contributing NAWIC member for almost 2 years now, helping to further their mission of providing support and advocacy to women in construction. We are proud to share that this summer, she was named NAWIC Columbia Member of the Year 2024! We couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this accomplishment. Congratulations Maryann!
Rice Creek Elementary Beam Signing! We would like to give a BIG thank you to the 700+ students and faculty at Rice Creek Elementary School who came out to sign the beam that will be installed in their new gym addition. All students in each grade got to sign their name on the beam as a way to show support for their future education - even Echo 🐬 got to sign! Along with the additions to the gym, we are renovating several of the school's interior spaces as well as their pick-up and drop-off areas. We are excited to be a part of the future of Rice Creek Elementary with Richland School District 2 & Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC).
Third time's the charm! #HoodsSafestJobsite Congratulations to our team at CCTC for winning October's Safest Jobsite! This accomplishment marks the third time they have received the highest safety inspection score across all of our jobsites in 2024. In January, they started off the year strong with their first win, their second in September, and have finished off the year strong with their third! Thank you Louis, Spencer, Matt, and team for your continued dedication to safety.
Happy #HoodieFeatureFriday! Today we are highlighting Field Engineer, Robert Heaton. Robert has been with Hood for over two years as a field engineer on several of our jobsites. Each summer, you will find Robert at Salkehatchie Summer Service as a Construction Site Manager. At Salkehatchie, Robert leads a group of young individuals for an entire week to build and repair homes for families in need. This summer, Robert led renovations for 80-year-old Minnie Johnson's home. As a widow living on her own, Salkehatchie arrived to fix Minnies damaged roof on her 100+-year-old home. Along with damage on the roof, the front exterior needed repairs and there was much other deferred maintenance with the home. By the end of the week, this Salkehatchie group was able to give a new life to Minnie's home! This was Robert's 17th year volunteering at Salkehatchie and we continue to be inspired by his community efforts.
Today, we extend our sincerest gratitude to the brave men and women who have served our country. We honor their service and remember their sacrifices with deep respect and appreciation. The Ninety Six Wildcats Multiplex is here! The newly renovated three-building multiplex now serves as a home to Greenwood County School District 52's band, athletic teams, and District administrative offices as it has all-new locker rooms, renovated gymnasiums, band rooms, office space, and outdoor practice fields. We enjoyed celebrating the new Multiplex with Ninety Six at their Dedication & Hall of Fame Ceremony! With performances by the band and dance team before their Friday night football game, we couldn't think of a better way to welcome the new facility into their community.
Hard Hats with Heart Field Day!❤️🏆 Us Hoodies had a great time joining the American Heart Association for their fourth annual Midlands Hard Hats with Heart field day! We played games, competed with friends, and most importantly, raised awareness for heart health in the construction industry. Thank you American Heart Association SC for having us - and for the 1st place trophy!! 🏅
