A sense of belonging doesn’t just happen, particularly in an online environment. It must be fostered and encouraged. At Honor, we believe one of the keys to improving retention and churn is through belonging. And it’s working. 76% of learners said Honor increased their sense of belonging. We do this by centering human connection at the heart of the learning experience, with features that: ?? Create spaces for learners to easily share and discuss their thoughts. ?? Encourage learners to work together to overcome difficult concepts ?? Empower instructors to engage with learners when they need the most support

Our platform helps higher education institutions, corporate organizations, and community builders create a more engaging and effective learning and training experience. We learn better when we learn together??? Thank you to Ron J Stefanski for having us!?
Jeremy Dean, PhD is the vice president of learning at Honor Education, which is run by learning leader and icon Joel Podolny, who was recruited by Steven Jobs back in the day to launch Apple University. In this new enterprise, Joel and his team have ventured into the next level realm of learning “collective engagement,” where your educational experience is formed by the connections you create with others— students, teachers, mentors, coaches, professors. I had the privilege of hearing more about this work on DisruptED, along with guest susan warner-sanchez, Ph.D. Associate vice chancellor at Austin Community College. Listening to these two is as intoxicating as it is informative. You realize that nothing informs our human experience as much as lifelong learning. The Alliance for Adult Education Foundation salutes this kind of learning innovation to assist and support adult learners in their quest for more education and training. Thanks Jeremy and Susan for a great conversation! Come along with us and get DisruptED!

One of the most common challenges instructors face in online education is a feeling of disconnection from their students. At Honor, we’re bringing it back. 80% of instructors said Honor increased their connection with their students. We do this by building tools that empower instructors to: ??? Bring their unique voice and perspective back to the learning content ?? Read the “room” to understand how their students are feeling about and engaging with the learning material ?? Add and adjust content to create powerful and engaging learning paths?

Thank you to Mark Leiter, Chief Digital Strategy Officer at Boeing, for highlighting our approach here at Honor!
Digital learning programs have an enduring challenge… On one hand, the intrinsic benefits of digital (online) learning are tremendous, which is why this approach has become pervasive: ?? Provides 24/7 on-demand access ?? Generates data-driven experience insights ?? Requires minuscule operating costs Yet, digital learning and development (L&D) programs often lack the vibrant engagement and excitement we value in face-to-face educational experiences... …until now! We are rapidly entering a new era of immersive, inspiring, and personalized digital learning powered by recent advancements in #AI.? ? Leading this digital revolution is?Honor Education,?a firm I discovered in my quest to identify companies that are knitting together L&D with AI and experience design in novel ways to reshape the future of education. ? Founded by?Joel Podolny—who was handpicked by Steve Jobs to build and scale Apple University—Honor Education is applying the same innovative design thinking that transformed leadership learning at?Apple?to reimagine how faculty teach and how students learn in digital, mobile-first, peer-activated courses. ? The firm emphasizes a human-centric approach to?AI. By leveraging intelligent technology to encourage and enhance the sharing of insights and expertise among learners, Honor Education is reinventing the digital learning experience. It’s a great company with an amazing team driving important work.?Their platform is relevant to universities as well as corporate and government educational programs. As importantly, it strikes me that our society should capitalize on every innovation that gives more people more access to truly high quality education, which in turn prepares them to achieve their aspirations. Honor Education is putting this principle into action. For more about Honor Education, click here: https://lnkd.in/eZ2jqvZc ? ??? The Strategic Insight ?? A note for my fellow strategists: While major LLM players (e.g., OpenAI,? Anthropic,? Cohere) often dominate the Conversational AI and Generative AI discussion, vertical AI solutions like those from Honor Education are gaining more attention and investment. This is well deserved. The more I study these emerging vertical AI players, the more I visualize the breadth and depth of future possibilities that will be unlocked by the latest forward leaps in AI technology. In turn, this creates many new ideas for positively transforming how we will evolve how we work in the coming years. If this theme sparks your interest, check out this new series from Bessemer Venture Partners: “The Future of AI is Vertical.” https://lnkd.in/ecpAyz2w

In online education, it’s often difficult to tell whether learners are just consuming material or actually comprehending it. At Honor, we’re helping students learn for life. 90% of learners say that Honor increased their comprehension in course material. We do this by: ??? Encouraging learners to engage directly within all learning material through intentional highlighting. ?? Enabling instructors to easily identify learners requiring support through real-time analytics on progress, sentiment, comprehension, and more. ?? Empowering instructors to bring their unique voice and perspective back into the online learning experience.

We learn better when we learn together. Our CEO Joel Podolny weighed in on the importance of peer collaboration in a Q&A with Inside Higher Ed's Joshua Kim. Drawing on his experience as a professor at Stanford and Harvard, the Dean of Yale’s School of Management, and the founding Dean of Apple University, he remarked: “Teaching has never been just about what I can put into students; it is what I can coax out of them collectively so that each individual is the beneficiary of the perspectives of the others with whom they are sharing their learning journey.” Check out the full article in Inside Higher Ed to learn more.

Shoutout to Honor’s very own VP of Customer Experience, modern day Wordsworth, Jeremy Dean, PhD, who is teaching a British Literature course at Austin Community College. His course examines everything from Willams Blake and Wordsworth to Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. We love seeing the creative ways that instructors bring their courses to life!

At Honor, we think about online learning as more than just the transfer of knowledge. We think of it as an active experience that deepens engagement by: ? Encouraging students to react to material and share with their peers as they’re learning. ?? Tracking progress to ensure learners are actively engaging with the material, not just going through the motions. ?? Building in prompts and check ins throughout learning material to support comprehension. And it's working! 94% of instructors said that Honor improved student engagement in their course.

While online learning has made education more accessible and flexible for students to fit into their lives, it often lacks the one thing we love the most about our favorite summer activities: Community. Hear from Amy Baldwin, Senior Lecturer of Literacy and Academic Success at the University of Central Arkansas, on how Honor helps bring community to her students even when learning asynchronously. ??
