  • If you are only relying on owned media channels to promote yourself, you are missing out on the amazing benefits of earned media. We get it – personal channels such as social media, websites and blogging can be amazing tools for growing your business and building a brand. However, there are some key outcomes that owned media can’t give you the way that earned media can: ? Credibility. Have you ever made (or NOT made) a purchase based on customer reviews? Media placements work the same way—earning coverage from trusted third-party sources shows your audience that others trust and see value in your business, too. ? Expanding Your Reach Owned media mostly connects with your current audience, limiting the potential to grow. Media placements, on the other hand, expose your brand to new, wider audiences, helping you reach people who might not have discovered you otherwise. ? Engage with Public Conversation Media placements allow your brand to be part of broader discussions. When you weigh in on a topic of interest, you show audiences that you are engaged with what’s happening in the world, and hold a level of authority or expertise for certain topics. Owned media is, of course, necessary for successful media campaigns. But it is important to remember the role earned media can play in boosting your reach and enhancing your public image. #mediarelations #publicrelationsagency #earnedmedia #legacymedia

Translating complex ideas & projects into easily accessible and engaging stories. One story at a time.

????????????Women’s History Month seems like the right time to share the history of our agency and its name: Unlocking powerful lessons of triumph and small moments of joy through storytelling inspired by our two great-great grandmothers, Honor Hosty Cosgrove and Eliza Thomas “Tommie” Gold Smith, we work to reflect the grace and tenacity of women who prevailed during turbulent chapters of history and made history while they were doing it. Our two ancestors are representative of our family history but the names are also aspirational. ??Honor, the Irish version of Hannah, means to treat someone with admiration and respect, which we believe is the?key to a successful business starting with your team. ??Gold, a precious metal, is also a standard—and that is the standard of excellence we apply to our work. #honorandgoldtips #communications #womenshistorymonth

How do your favorite television hosts or podcasters get so good at speaking? The answer is simple: practice. This is the core of media training. Any type of media interaction – an interview, a TV segment, a podcast, or filming for social media – all of those settings require strong foundational skills in communication. Media training is how we build those skills. ?? This type of training is much more than practicing questions and answers. Instead, media training provides you with techniques that help you look and feel confident while sharing your message. ?? It demonstrates how to navigate media interactions and understand the best ways to get your message across in different settings. ?? Like anything else, practice makes perfect. ?? If you want to practice your speaking and communication skills, media training is one of the best ways to do it. You’ve probably heard the saying, “PR is both an art and a science.” That's true: it’s the perfect balance of both. As communication professionals, our job isn’t just about proofreading or sending out a message. We blend the art of storytelling with science (think research, data, and facts) to craft a story that speaks directly to your audience. When we pitch your ideas, it’s never at random. We carefully research and identify the best channels, ensuring your message reaches the right people, at the right time, in the right way. By understanding what truly matters to your audience, we can craft messages that resonate deeply with them, combining creativity and strategy for a lasting impact. ?? "How do you build relationships in PR?” It’s a question we hear all the time, but here’s the thing—it’s not just about who you know, it’s about how you show up. Building relationships in PR isn’t about collecting contacts or sending out a bunch of press releases. It’s about consistently providing value and earning trust over time. Instead of focusing on the size of your network, focus on being someone worth connecting with. Focus on creating compelling stories and offering unique angles that haven’t been written yet. Building relationships is important, but it cannot take the place of crafting original narratives with a meaningful message. #publicrelationsagency #pragency #communicationagency #mediarelations #communications

It’s 2025 – is legacy media still relevant? We say yes, just not in the way it used to be. In the age of social media and podcasts, people are flocking to their preferred sources, creators and commentators to get their news. Long-standing legacy media outlets (like The New York Times and The Washington Post) have adapted to new media platforms to stay connected with their audience. Our latest blog is all about legacy media, new media, and how they play a role in shaping public communication. When you hire a PR professional, their job is more than just writing press releases to get your message out. Their real role is to help your audience personally connect with, engage with, and remember your message. If you’re only pushing out information or announcements, your message is likely getting lost in the void. And worse, it isn’t reaching your target audience. A PR professional bridges that gap—transforming your message into something that resonates with your audience. They take the time to research and understand your audience, crafting stories that connect on a deeper level, making your message not just heard but felt. ?? If you have ever felt a personal, relevant connection to a brand or company, odds are there is a PR pro behind that messaging, connecting it directly to your interests or circumstances. Why do we say there’s an art to PR? Because, like art, PR reflects and shapes culture. It captures moments in time and offers perspective through storytelling and human connection. Impressionist artists, such as Monet, initially faced criticism for breaking away from the traditional methods of art. But ultimately, impressionism became one of the most influential periods in art history. Why? Because impressionism largely focused on scenes that resonated with the everyday person. So, what can PR pros take away from this? ?? Authenticity matters. Audiences are attracted to what is real. Authentic stories resonate and are remembered long after they are told. ?? Our stories shape the future. The narratives we craft today will influence how this era is remembered. ?? Reflect the present. Our writing should be rooted in the here and now, capturing the people, culture and issues of today. ?? Stay creative. People, times, and technology are always changing – always stay open to fresh ideas and new practices that help you continue to reach audiences. Our number one rule when using AI for your work? Always verify the facts. Ensuring accuracy should always be priority in any PR professional or journalist’s work – but adding AI to the equation is all the more reason to double, even triple check that any information you report is factual. It is not uncommon for AI platforms to: ?Misinterpret prompts, yielding incorrect answers or data ?Provide data that used to be accurate, but is now outdated (This is especially true for daily news cycles and developing stories). ?Provide information that appears legitimate, but is actually completely fabricated (sometimes called “AI hallucination”) The bottom line? ? It's essential to read and understand information, where it comes from, and manually verify its accuracy. Want to read more on this topic?
