Flight Story - Part Three: We are less than 24 hours away from Wheels Up! This is such an exciting day for our Veterans, Guardians and volunteers. We hope everyone has a great day and gets a restful night of sleep. We cannot wait to greet you bright and early tomorrow morning at the airport. Please reach out to your Team Leaders if you have any last minute questions. These trips are simply not possible without our community. This flight is fully funded by donations from individual community members, groups, organizations, corporations, and family foundations. Some funds were donated through school, business and organizational drives, other donations came from motorcycle rides throughout our valley, while still more came from family and and our Vegas hospitality leaders commitment to give back and honor those who served. A Flight Story - Part Two: We are privileged to welcome multiple members of our nonprofit community on board Mission 22. We have a Veteran who serves with USO Nevada and two Veterans who serve and are among the founding members of Kline Veterans Fund. We are also fortunate to have guardians who are taking a weekend away from their regular service with American Red Cross, Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, and USO Nevada. Welcome!! Although not a non-profit, we also have this guy! Mikel is a local photographer who came on board with us officially on our first flight post pandemic and has been with us every flight and event since. He donates his time and talent both on flight and in between flights. He has also shared himself, creating lasting friendships throughout our organization. A Flight Story - Part One: We are proud to introduce you to the Veterans of Honor Flight Southern Nevada - Mission 22. Every flight is exceptional in its own way. This will be our first flight without a WWII Veteran as a member. We will miss the history and reflection their presence simply gives, each and every time. However, we are privileged to welcome 35 Veterans from our Southern Nevada and Northern Nevada communities. Their service histories are diverse and impressive. Among the group, they have earned seven Bronze Stars,three Purple Hearts, one Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses and two West Point Graduates. We look forward to learning their stories, witnessing the connection that continues to evolve over the weekend and the friendships that will carry into the months and years to follow.
