Hello out there, A while back, I shared an old photo of my mother and me from the 90s. I received many comments from my network of caring work friends. Many of whom have gone through or are going through their own caregiving journey. Those were some healing and welcoming exchanges. I've had many more since. I am sharing an update about my mother, Dot. She's now in a lovely facility in Rhode Island not far from my home. She has good days and bad days. Last Saturday was a good day, and I was pleased to have her in my home of 15 years for the first time ever for some lunch. That afternoon, her parkinson's dementia kicked in and she became a different version of herself. I felt all the feelings and am grateful for the time we have had and will have. Men are caregivers and capable of feeling more than joy and anger. I have much gratitude for the folks at Homethrive and their support of me and my family. We are onsite at Lee Health this week, educating and enrolling employees who are caregiving for loved ones. Since I first saw this wall in January, I have admired Lee Health’s commitment to celebrating disABLEd artists. Art therapy holds significant value in both psychological and emotional healing. It combines the creative process of making art with therapeutic techniques to help individuals explore their feelings, manage stress, and enhance their overall well-being. Today is full of big feelings for a lot of people. I encourage you to consider dabbling in your own art project, regardless of whether your political candidate won or lost.
