PARAGUAY- Marlene Valiente is a client of Diaconía, our partner in Paraguay. Marlene's story begins with her mother. Marlene’s mother collected trash for a living when Marlene was a little girl. Using small loans from Diaconía, she expanded her business and became a broker of refurbished materials in her community. Over a decade later, Marlene used a $64 loan from her mother’s trust group to start her own business selling products door to door. Multiple loans later, she owns a store and leads a trust group, helping many other women grow and expand their businesses. Despite facing hardships, including a severe accident, Marlene’s resilience and faith have helped her succeed and support her family. Marlene says her mom did everything she could to provide for her and her siblings, and now she wants to do the same for her child. Marlene is set to win Diaconia’s “entrepreneur of the year” award, and her mother will be alongside her. #ENDpoverty #Diaconia #Paraguay

ZAMBIA- HOPE Zambia is tracking well toward growth targets, having served 10,000 new savings group members so far this year! They have faced significant economic challenges the past few years and this is starting to stabilize and improve. Prayer requests from HOPE Zambia include: prayer for continued economic recovery and stability for Zambia, prayer for rain and relief from the severe drought affecting people working in the agriculture and energy sectors, and prayer for strength and encouragement for the HOPE Zambia team and for the savings group members as they navigate these challenges.
