At Homes For HOPE, we focus on holistic transformation, addressing more than just material needs. As part of the HOPE network, we integrate material, personal, spiritual, and relational solutions to poverty. We believe that men and women living in poverty have inherent dignity, dreams, skills, and ideas. They just need someone to invest in them to reach their potential. Yoselin Ambrosio Aldaves has been a member of Comas CMA, HOPE’s partner in Peru, since 2022. Yoselin and her husband have 3 children, and they are also legal guardians of Yoselin’s 15-year-old sister. During COVID-19, Yoselin and her husband struggled to provide for their family. With other neighbors in their community, they created a “Common Pot” for everyone to eat from, so people didn’t have to go hungry. Everyone gathered and contributed what they could and shared with the community. Comas CMA supported their Common Pot and brought food to add for the community. This is when Yoselin and her community learned about savings groups and started one together. Before joining the savings group and opening her store, Yoselin struggled to save money. Since joining a savings group, Yoselin has taken loans from her group to start her own business. As her business grows, she can depend on income from her store. Now, Yoselin can provide for her children, giving them 3 meals a day and treats on the weekends as a reward for helping her at the store. As a result of the savings group, now Yoselin and her neighbors have a true community that feels like family. When she has leftover goods and produce from her store, Yoselin brings them to her savings group and offers them to members in the group who are in need. Yoselin dreams of opening a Mini Market and selling goods in large quantities so she can have enough money to send her children to university. She wants her children and her husband to learn about God and the Bible. Yoselin now encourages others to also open businesses, pointing out their gifts and skills and saying that if she can become an entrepreneur, others can too. #HomesforHOPE #MoreThanALoan #ClientStory?

Happy International Women's Day! Today, we recognize all women for their achievements and remember women's rights. Studies have demonstrated that women are worthy of investment. When a microenterprise development organization empowers a woman to improve her income, she typically pours the resulting profits back into her family, providing better nutrition, housing, or education for her children. The percentage of females served by a microfinance institution is often considered a measure of the depth of poverty it reaches, since women more often lack the means to make a living or the collateral needed to access a loan. While a majority of people served by Homes for HOPE and HOPE International are women, we provide financial services to men and women without bias. #HomesforHOPE #HOPEinternational #InternationalWomensDay

At Homes For HOPE, we believe in holistic transformation. Because poverty is more than material, we believe in solutions that address more than material need. As part of the HOPE network, we support the integration of material, personal, spiritual, and relational solutions to poverty. We believe that men and women living in poverty are created with inherent dignity and have dreams, passions, and skills. They just need someone to invest in them to provide opportunities to meet their own potential. Sandrine, a mother of five living in Burundi, joined a HOPE Burundi savings group in 2022. Sandrine said: “I was very poor; I struggled to get food for my children. I ran after people in the market to get jobs. It was so hard. So, when I heard friends talking about the savings group, I was attracted by the fact that they give loans and members are trustworthy to pay back loans that were taken.” By taking out loans from her savings group, Sandrine was able to start a boutique and restore her home, which had been damaged by a fire. Now she has a kiosk and a plot of land, all from her savings. #HomesforHOPE #MoreThanAHouse #ClientStory

This week, we celebrate Women in Construction! Women in Construction week was created to shine a spotlight on women in the industry for the purpose of celebrating and promoting the role of women in construction today. This photo of the Richmond chapter of The NAHB Professional Women in Building Council was taken during their playhouse build. The proceeds of this build were donated to Homes for HOPE and have been used to help hundreds of families break out of global poverty. There are many ways for women in construction to partner with us; learn more here: https://homes4hope.org/ #HomesforHOPE #WomenInConstruction #ProfessionalWomenInBuilding

HAITI- After the amputation of her right leg, Mona Charles became part of the nearly 1 in 20 Haitians living with a disability (World Bank). She struggled to find work. She was assaulted and raped, resulting in her pregnancy with her son. She faced the challenges of poverty, life with a disability, and single motherhood. When Mona joined a savings group, she found a new beginning. The group was led by Lisette Cadet, another woman living with a disability. Through the savings group, Mona saved money and started a small business selling household products. She also found community and a renewed sense of self-worth. Mona is one of the many men and women living with disabilities and finding hope and dignity through Christ-centered savings groups in Haiti. #HomesforHOPE #HOPEinternational #ENDpoverty #Haiti #ClientStory
