This Thanksgiving, we’re reflecting on the power of community. From the volunteers who show up rain or shine, to the donors who make life-changing repairs possible, to the neighbors who trust us to step into their lives — we’re reminded every day how much good can come from working together. Because of you, homes are safer, neighborhoods are stronger, and lives are brighter. Thank you for being part of this mission to fix homes — for good. Wishing you a warm, safe, and joyful Thanksgiving.

Formerly NeighborLink Indianapolis — with the support of our community, we’re helping Hoosiers safely age at their home
关于我们
Home Repairs for Good, formerly NeighborLink Indianapolis, is a nonprofit providing home repairs at no cost to low-income older adults and individuals with disabilities who own their home within Marion county, Indiana. Our goal is to help homeowners age in place safely and with dignity. Much of the home repair is completed by volunteer groups (great for church, colleges, organizations, businesses, team building, etc.) with experiences tailored to fit projects. If you're looking to volunteer - we would love to have you!

The affordable housing crisis isn’t just about building new homes. It’s about keeping people in the homes they already know and love. That’s where we come in. We address the often-overlooked side of this issue: helping aging homeowners stay safely in place. A failing roof, a broken furnace, or accessibility challenges shouldn’t force someone out of their home. By providing critical repairs, we reduce displacement, preserve neighborhoods, and offer a unique approach to solving this crisis. Home Repairs for Good is creating stability and ensuring that people can remain in the places they’ve built their lives around. This work is important, and it’s a piece of the affordable housing puzzle that can’t be ignored. Let’s rethink what affordable housing solutions look like and help more older adults stay in the homes they love.

Thanks to supporters like you, we’ve already raised $40,000 this year to bring safety and warmth to aging homeowners. Ms. Shelly now has a ramp to safely leave her home. At 101, Ms. Ernestine welcomed us back to ensure her home is a safe place to age. But we’re not done yet. To reach $80,000 by year’s end, we need your help to tackle real fixes — replacing roofs, repairing furnaces, and creating lasting change. Band-Aids are temporary. Your gift fixes homes for good. Give today at https://lnkd.in/gp3cXx9d.

Our Gratitude Gathering brought together some of the key volunteers who make our mission possible — sharing snacks, stories, and reflections on the lives we’ve impacted together. Thank you to everyone who has selflessly served the older adults of Indianapolis this year alongside Home Repairs for Good.

Meet Kyla — one of Home Repairs for Good's new wave of volunteers! After starting her career as a civil engineer in Indy, Kyla was on the hunt for something meaningful that matched her skills. She found it with us, stepping up as an Engagement Lead to connect volunteers and homeowners with purpose. From leading team introductions to sharing moments with homeowners, Kyla embodies the spirit of giving back. And as a proud member of Gen Z, she’s spreading the word: “We can be better!” Learn more in the blog post: https://lnkd.in/gsKKwVeK

When the sun’s out, so are we — working, building, making a difference. But the work doesn’t end with summer. Every season, our teams and volunteers are out working across Indianapolis, because our commitment to doing good is year-round. Want to be part of that impact? The best way is a recurring donation. It's a simple and steady way to support our important work. Make your mark at https://lnkd.in/gZY7WCFy.

On a warm, breezy October day, our friends from the Indiana Bar Association Insurance Group stepped up for their first volunteer project and made it count! They tackled a major yard overgrowth for an 82-year-old widow who’s called her house home for 35 years and needed help after a Health Department citation. This project marks the final organized volunteer group for our 2024 season. A huge thank you to every team who came out this year—your efforts made a real difference, helping homeowners age in place safely and with dignity. We can’t wait to see more of you in 2025!

Fall Repair Fest 2024 was a good day for Indianapolis. With 130 volunteers, we took on projects across 10 homes in the Martindale Brightwood neighborhood. Ms. Hall’s old shed? Torn down. Ms. Williamson’s overgrown fence line? Cleared. Ms. Tucker got a new ramp to make her home more accessible, and Ms. Pinner, at 101 years old, saw her place get some much-needed cleanup and gutter work. This day was about building community and making a difference. A huge thanks to everyone who came out and got their hands dirty. You made a real impact for good in our city!

Big thanks to our amazing sponsors for making Fall Repair Fest possible! These organizations have contributed so we can purchase supplies to activate the event and serve about a dozen homeowners. We’re thrilled to share that we’re FULL on volunteers—over 100 people have signed up to lend a hand this Saturday. It’s going to be a beautiful fall morning of service and community. You can still get involved by donating to support the event, our work, and the homeowners we serve at homerepairsforgood.org/frf.

A huge thank you to North United Methodist Church for joining us for their first time last week. This team stepped up to scrape and paint a home after the homeowner was cited by the Health Department, showing what can be accomplished when we come together for good. Their time and generosity are helping create safe, welcoming spaces that homeowners can be proud of. We’re grateful for their partnership!
