We’re excited to share that our import berry program is expanding with a new loading location in McAllen, Texas. Set to start this November, this addition will reduce transportation time by two days, meaning fresher berries for our customers and a reduced environmental impact. This new hub offers organic and conventional blueberries and blackberries from Mexico and Chile, including the Erendira blackberry variety. It strengthens our commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable produce year-round. In our latest From the Field update, Parker Anderson shares that we are on hail watch this time of year and explains that hail nets help shield the fruit from a hail event. There was a recent hailstorm in the Central Valley, and the nets did their job perfectly! Although the damage to the industry is estimated to be around 15-20%, our volume should remain unaffected! Using hail nets combined with the lower severity of the storm in our area has contributed to safeguarding our crops.
