?? We’re thrilled to share the spotlight with Wild Ones in The NY Times! ?? This feature is a testament to the collective power of individuals and organizations coming together for a shared mission: restoring biodiversity, one yard, one balcony, and one flowerpot at a time. ???? Wild Ones has been a trailblazer in native plant education and advocacy, and we’re proud to collaborate in growing a movement that empowers people to take simple, impactful actions. Together, we’re proving that change begins right at home and that every step—no matter how small—makes a difference. Thank you to everyone who’s turning their spaces into thriving habitats. Let’s keep building the largest cooperative conservation project ever imagined, one act of restoration at a time! ?? Simple, science-based, grassroots solution to regenerate biodiversity, one person at a time. Get on the HNP MAP!
关于我们
Welcome to Homegrown National Park?, a 501(c)(3) non-profit co-founded by Doug Tallamy and Michelle Alfandari. HNP is a grassroots call-to-action to regenerate biodiversity and ecosystem function because every human being on this planet needs diverse, highly productive ecosystems to survive. We are at a critical juncture where the continued loss of so many species from local ecosystems will increasingly compromise their ability to produce the ecosystem services, including oxygen, clean water, flood control, pollination, pest control, carbon storage, etc., that sustain our lives. Our mission is to catalyze anyone with access to some soil to start a new HABITAT? by planting native plants and removing most invasive plants. This includes everyone, from individual homeowners to property owners, land managers, farmers, and individuals with the space for just a single plant pot! Our initial goal in the US is 20 million acres of native plantings spanning yards, campuses, porches, and balconies. This represents approximately ? of the area covered by US lawns on privately-owned property. To track this goal, we have created the HNP MAP. It provides an interactive, community-based visual that illustrates each contribution to planting native as we create new ecological networks and restore biodiversity together. Be a part of the largest and most inclusive cooperative conservation project ever conceived or attempted and GET ON THE MAP! “Our National Parks, no matter how grand in scale, are too small and separated from one another to preserve species to the levels needed. Thus, the concept for Homegrown National Park, a bottom-up call-to-action to restore habitat where we live and work, and to a lesser extent where we farm and graze, extending national parks to our yards and communities.” - Doug Tallamy

?? Our deepest thanks to the Audubon Society for recognizing Doug Tallamy with the Thomas W. Keesee, Jr. Conservation Award at the 2024 Keesee Awards Luncheon. Honoring Doug’s commitment to native plants and biodiversity brings vital attention to the biodiversity crisis we face today. In sharing stories from his own yard, where he and his wife have documented 1,335 moth species and 62 bird species, Doug reminded us all of the power we hold to make a difference. “Failure is not an option!” he urged, "Whether or not we do this will determine nature’s fate, and ultimately, our own.”. Thank you, Audubon Society, for amplifying Doug’s voice and for your leadership in advocating for birds, biodiversity, and healthier ecosystems. Together, we can inspire change and empower communities to take action. ?? Become part of the solution: join Doug in adding native plants to your landscape and put yourself on the Homegrown National Park map. Be part of a national movement to bring biodiversity back!

??? A Big Thank You to Teva for Supporting Biodiversity! ?? We’re thrilled to announce that Teva has generously awarded us a grant to enhance our resource and education guides, helping to make vital information about native plants more accessible to everyone. But that’s not all – Teva is leading by example!??? They’ve already taken the first step by planting native species on their corporate campuses, showing their commitment to creating greener, more sustainable spaces for both their employees and the environment.??? This partnership exemplifies how corporate leaders can support biodiversity and inspire others to make a difference. Together, we are making real progress toward restoring ecosystems, one native plant at a time. Thank you, Teva, for your commitment to nature and your belief in the power of native plants!??? #HomegrownNationalPark #Teva #CorporateSustainability #Biodiversity #NativePlants?

Last weekend our Co-founder Doug Tallamy and our ED, Brandon, met up to give a presentation in conjunction with the Rappahannock Environmental League and meet with stakeholders who will shape the future of conservation in Rappahannock. It was a sold out talk and went well, but the craziest thing was getting a photo of Doug smiling! #conservation #nativeplants #biodiversity
