The newest episode of “Lions in the Spotlight” has been published! I am incredibly happy with this episode, and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to interview Father Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries! Together we discussed his time as a student at LMU, and how his mission to change lives evolved into his possession of the Presidental Medal of Freedom. “Gangs are belonging gone wrong. But Homeboy is belonging gone right. It’s a culture where gang members feel safe, and seen and cherished … A cherished person is going to be able to find their way to the joy of cherishing themselves and others.” Having the chance to meet Father Greg at Homeboy was a once in a lifetime opportunity. He is kind, humble, gentle, and immensely loving. I am so honored. Give the episode a listen!
关于我们
Homeboy Industries mission is to hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated adults and youth, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. For 30 years, Homeboy Industries has created a therapeutic community that provides the critical support needed for gang members and previously incarcerated individuals to change their lives. This non profit organization has made a singular impact on the Los Angeles community, not only by providing a means for thousands of individuals to support their families, but also by cultivating healing that helps ensure the cycle of violence is broken. More than 300 people each year are employed through job training positions in our downtown Los Angeles headquarters. They learn on-the-job skills in what is often their first “real” job. They are encouraged to use their workday to work on themselves through a variety of free programs and services like mental health therapy, tattoo removal, substance abuse counseling, parenting and financial literacy classes, GED tutoring, solar panel installation training, case management and legal services. Additionally, thousands of L.A. community clients, have access to a segment of our services including employment counseling and tattoo removal. These are all offered free of charge thanks, in large part, to the donations we receive. In addition to being a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, Homeboy Industries operates nearly a dozen social enterprises including: Homegirl Café, Homeboy Bakery, HomeboyFoods.com, Homeboy Diner at L.A. City Hall, Homeboy Gluten-Free Bakery, Homegirl Catering, Homeboy Silkscreen and Embroidery, Homeboy Merchandise and Homeboy Electronics Recycling. We also license the brand for distribution via Retail Grocery and an LAX quick service restaurant.

What a privilege it was to host the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, many of the past Hilton Laureates, and 2024 recipient of the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, Amazon Frontlines. We spent time in kinship, storytelling and tours, as well as deep discussion and connection. It was a joy to break bread together with a meal from Homegirl Cafe and Catering.

The Aspiriant Los Angeles team spent a day learning and working at Homeboy Industries, where formerly gang-involved and incarcerated men and women receive services to redirect their lives. Homeboy’s founder, Father Boyle, recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his profound work in this community. The team toured the downtown campus, hearing first-hand stories of the challenges and triumphs from participants in the program, and enjoyed lunch at Homegirl Café, which provides a supportive environment where clients receive on-the-job training and build their skills. In support of the 2024 #DayofGiving, Aspiriant provided groceries and hygiene kits for Homeboy’s clients, as well as a check to further their efforts in our community. #HomeboyIndustries #CommunitySupport
