Using this terminology emphasizes the factors that contribute to a person's homelessness/houselessness. It refers to the many challenges people face when they are homeless, houseless, or at risk of losing stable shelter. This term highlights the complex factors—like financial hardship, lack of affordable housing, and systemic barriers—that contribute to a person’s housing instability. By understanding housing insecurity, we can work toward real solutions that prevent homelessness before it happens.
