?? “From PT School to Home Health Compass: Our Journey” In 2013, the three of us—Emma Lam-Morales, PT, DPT, OCS, Peter Liu PT, DPT, GCS, and I—met in PT school. We didn’t know it then, but those years of grinding through exams, clinicals, and late-night study sessions would eventually lead us to building something bigger than just our own careers... By 2016, we had earned our DPTs, and we were off and running: ? I went into the ortho and cardiac units of an acute care hospital. ? Peter was in acute care as well, earned his GCS and worked in geriatric rehab. ? Emma went into orthopedics full-time, completing residency and earning her OCS. By 2018, we had collectively experienced burnout????: ? Emotionally and physically drained ? Commuter fatigue and schedule rigidity ? Unrelenting patient caseloads with little time for self-care By 2019, we had worked in various settings—hospitals, outpatient, and home health. We saw the good, the bad, and the frustrating. ??
