ICYMI: Home Forward was proud to celebrate the grand opening of The Fairfield Apartments in October! This 75-unit permanent supportive housing (PSH) community in downtown Portland will continue to offer deeply affordable rents, together with culturally specific services to individuals exiting chronic homelessness provided by the Urban League of Portland. “This project is a testament to the power of community partnerships in addressing homelessness,” said Home Forward CEO Ivory Mathews. “The Fairfield not only preserves much-needed affordable housing in downtown Portland, but it also ensures that residents will have the appropriate support and services they need to thrive.” The renovation of the building was made possible, in part, by a $2 million Congressional Direct Spending award secured by U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Rep. Bonamici, with additional support and partnership from the Portland Housing Bureau, Oregon Housing and Community Services, Joint Office of Homeless Services, Prosper Portland, and more. The Home Forward Killingsworth affordable housing complex in NE Portland is progressing beautifully! A huge shout-out to Hacker Architects, Wood Mechanix and our O'Neill/Walsh Community Builders (OWCB) Team — Kent Usher, Ali O'Neill, Maurice Rahming, Patrick Dengsot, Jenny Evans, and Sara Schubert — for their hard work and collaboration. This development, located at Portland Community College's new Opportunity Center, will offer 84 homes and 3 early learning classrooms. Families living here will have access to career resources, social support, workforce training, and education. The NAYA Family Center will provide onsite early childhood education, while the Oregon Department of Human Services will have an office on the campus. Additionally, the Multnomah County Health Department will open a community health center next year, further supporting families' needs. The Home Forward Killingsworth Housing project is a shining example of innovative housing solutions that also promote career and educational advancement. It thoughtfully integrates with the Cully Neighborhood’s rich communal history through its design and amenities. #AffordableHousing #PCCKillingsworth #HomeForward #CommunityDevelopment #HackerArchitects #OWCB #PLACE #WoodMechanix

It is so great to see the work of our organization highlighted on a national stage!
Via Fast Company: “In Portland, Oregon, the city’s housing authority, Home Forward, also worked with the federal RAD program to renovate several properties to improve energy efficiency, quality of life, and operational costs. Most of the buildings, built between the mid-1960s and early 1980s, had deteriorating exteriors and issues with mold. Five have now been transformed by the architecture firm Holst.” CC Ivory Mathews!
