Supporting biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and promoting environmental justice one person & one yard at a time.
关于我们
In August 2022, a group of us - educators, environmentalists, and landscape designers - decided to create a 4,500 square foot Ecological Landscapes Exhibit for the March 2023 Capital Region Flower & Garden Expo. Our mission? To educate and inspire people to steward their homes and outdoor spaces in a manner that supports biodiversity, mitigates climate change, and promotes environmental justice. Seventy-five volunteers from partner organizations joined us to create a large model sustainable yard with native plants and grasses, a pond, home veggie garden and compost, water barrel, and bird, bee, and bat houses. Nearly 17,000 came through the exhibit. In October 2023, Home Earth Alliance applied for its 501(c)(3) status and was officially launched. Today, we are excited to announce our newest initiative: IMAGINE Native Plant Farm. It shouldn't be so hard to come by native plants from and for our ecoregion. Those are just the plants our imperiled native birds, bees, butterflies and essential insects need. As Doug Tallamy says: “In the past, we have asked one thing of our gardens: that they be pretty. Now they have to support life, sequester carbon, feed pollinators and manage water.” We all have a role to play. One inch, one foot, one yard at a time, we can rethink how we manage our homes and outdoor spaces to restore and regenerate the ecosystems we have lost. We hope you will join us!
