Today, we honor the history, resilience, and immense contributions of Indigenous peoples across the United States. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a time to reflect on the rich cultures, traditions, and deep connections to the land that Indigenous communities have upheld for generations. It’s also a day to acknowledge the injustices they have faced—and continue to face. Sadly, Indigenous peoples experience homelessness at disproportionately high rates compared to other populations. In urban areas, Native Americans make up less than 1% of the population but account for 10% or more of those experiencing homelessness. The ongoing impacts of colonization, historical trauma, and systemic inequities continue to contribute to this crisis, with many Indigenous individuals and families struggling to find safe, stable housing. At HomeAid, we are committed to creating a world where everyone has access to safe, dignified housing—regardless of their background or circumstances. Our mission to end homelessness is rooted in compassion and justice. Through our partnerships and projects, we strive to address the root causes of homelessness, while providing resources and support to uplift those most vulnerable, including Indigenous communities. By working together, we can make a difference. Join us in supporting those affected by homelessness so we can help build a future where everyone has a place to call home. Learn how you can help. ??
