When a patient's grandmother was admitted to Holy Cross and began to pass unexpectedly, it was a particularly painful week for the family, who had just lost another loved one days prior. From the moment he began caring for them, Michael showed kindness and deep empathy, listening closely to the family and providing comfort. One family member shared, "He always spoke to my grandmother, telling her what he was doing even though she was not responsive. Everything he has done has been with the utmost respect and empathy, from chatting with us just about daily life to learning more about my grandmother, and consistently asking every time he is about to leave if there is anything at all he can do for us." What defines a remarkable mammography tech? Meet Mekenzi Conway! “I’ve always been a people pleaser and found benefit in helping people. In healthcare, it can be a scary environment for a patient, so if you are able to make their day better, even by just a little bit, it makes you feel good,” shares Mekenzi Conway, Lead Mammography Tech. Mekenzi knows the critical role compassion plays in her work. “You have to be able to get on your patient’s level and provide care to them that you would wish to receive for yourself. Especially in mammography, every patient has a different situation—whether it be nerves, currently going through treatment, or being prepped for surgery.” In a role where empathy and connection are key, Mekenzi brings warmth and understanding to every patient interaction, helping them feel seen and supported.
