Thank you to Abbot Gary Hoover from St. Andrew Abbey in Cleveland, who was today's Catholic Schools Week Mass Celebrant! Abbot Gary emphasized to our students, "You are loved!" It was a great day to Celebrate Our Faith and remember that Namers represent the Most Holy Name of Jesus each day - what a beautiful gift! Special thanks to our Music Ministry students, who led us in this beautiful rendition of 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) by Matt Redman. We are blessed to have singers, a pianist, a flutist, guitarists, and a violinist, plus other students who help with the sound system.

Today during Catholic Schools Week, we celebrated our families. Students attended prayer services in our Chapel throughout the day today, offering up prayers of thanksgiving and protection for all who make a Catholic education possible for them. Thank you, parents and family members, for not only supporting your children, but also for making Holy Name a better place! Our school community would not operate without the help you provide us daily.

Our Catholic Schools Week Celebrations are off to a great start! On Sunday, Holy Name hosted a packed house to watch the Diocese of Cleveland Seminarians take the win over the Priests in a fun basketball matchup. Yesterday, we celebrated our students, with our faculty and staff bringing in baked goods for our young men and women to enjoy. Today, we take the time to celebrate our families! Students will be in the Chapel all day offering prayers in thanksgiving for the many who care about them. Thank YOU to all the parents and extended family members who make a Holy Name education possible. It means so much to all of us that you believe in our mission, and make sacrifices to have Holy Name be your students home away from home for four years.

UPDATE: Holy Name High School will be closed both Tuesday, January 21 AND Wednesday, January 22 due to the cold temperatures expected each day, especially when factoring in the wind chill. Unfortunately, this means Wednesday's Blood Drive is canceled. Additionally, the Team Shop is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Athletic Updates will be shared as necessary; student-athletes should expect to hear from coaches directly in regards to any changes.

Last night, on a free throw shot at Garfield Heights, Drew Styers '25 officially amassed 1,000 career points for the Green Wave! Drew - who is from St. Angela Merici in Fairview Park - will be recognized on Tuesday, January 21 during a home game vs. NDCL. Namer Nation is incredibly proud of Drew; however, it is not just because of this accomplishment. Drew is a young man of great character who represents Holy Name well both on and off the court. He is the latest - and last - Styers at Holy Name to establish a great legacy for himself on the basketball court. Sister Becky '21 is also a member of the 1,000-point club, while older brother Brandon '18 is in the OHSAA record books with career 3-point percentage of 43.3%. Congrats Drew - we wish you and all Green Wave athletes the best of luck in 2025!

The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.” – Luke 2:10-11 Merry Christmas from Holy Name! May the joy of Christ’s birth fill your heart today, tomorrow, and always. Our prayer for you this Christmas season is that you feel His love guiding you, His light shining upon you, and His peace blessing you now and into the New Year. *Artwork by Alivea McGuire '27
