Two Alex?!?!?!?!?! How could that happen!?!?!?!?!? ?? ?? ??
I am excited to return to the Georgia Institute of Technology on March 8th, this time as a speaker! Some call it recklessness, and some call it ambition. On March 8th at 11:30 am, I call it ???????????????? ??????. If there's one thing I've done since going off to GAMES, it's a lot of things. Maybe I shouldn't have bulked 30 lbs to win that arm-wrestling contest, and maybe I shouldn't have hit third gear inside of a certain congress center, but I absolutely should have helped that homeless dude at my church get aid from Agencies, and I did. There will be holograms, there will be two Alex, and if I do my job right, there will be the talk I wish I got as a kid. I intend to explain how unprocessed fear of failure is effectively fear of success. I intend to explain that every potential failure is different, every potential success is different, and therefore every contemplation of success and failure should be different. As HoloTABLE L.L.C. gears up for Atlanta Science Festival 2025, we'd like to take a look back at one of our favorite demos that has not yet been released to the HoloTABLE LinkedIn followers. Last October we were asked to bring the craziest holograms we could to an event, and we knew our white whale. Once, and exactly once, we had managed to turn a person into a hologram in real time. It was impressive but it was intense, and we had chalked it up to remain shelved due to impracticality. Then along came Avant South, and they asked for the top shelf. In this video, you can see the HoloTABLE SE, complete with motion controls and white-label branding of the Avant South group. Ms. Stephanie has been 3d scanned, which has been uploaded to the display in real time, giving her the opportunity to take control of her holographic other self. She's having a blast, the motion controls are smooth like a baby, and life is good. 03/08/2025

For Four years now, my About section on my LinkedIn profile has read "Pushing to make holograms affordable and accessible." I meant it when I wrote it, and I mean it now. That's why I am very excited to show HoloTABLE L.L.C.'s upcoming experiment Demo Video: https://lnkd.in/edzCmVJf Backstory below, but in the video Ms. Stephanie is playing with her hologram of herself, using motion controls. RSVP: https://lnkd.in/e4pm8jic At MomoCon LLC's 2023 Convention, we had successfully taken 1 cosplayer, 3-d scanned him, and uploaded his scan as a hologram. The motion controls added a layer of fun, and we were excited! The 2nd attempt immediately failed. In preparation for Avant South 2024, we were asked to bring the most insane demo we could. It was a hell of a reach, but with our newly developed HoloTABLE S.E., we attempted to do something we had successfully accomplished once, and make it replicable. Could we make a fleet of holograms on the fly? 1/6 of Avant South entered our pipeline to be a hologram, and about half of them successfully left the event haven taken control of their *other* volumetric self. Tomorrow, we expand this opportunity to the public. I had a great time giving my first guest lecture at Middle Georgia State University last week! The class asked great questions, and it was refreshing to have the chance to delve into the history and materials that brought this company to life (opposed to KPIs and market research). Dr. Andrew Reeves' class, History of Magic in the Western Tradition (HIST 3999), covers a broad history of magic and magic-adjacent practices in the Euro-Mediterranean from Hellenistic times up through the present. A brief survey of the lecture for all of those here: After the Renaissance, “magic acts'' shifted from religious, ritualistic practices, to their modern form of entertainment media. We all know Leonardo Davinci’s tank design, but much fewer know the works of another Italian, Giambattista Della Porta. Our history starts here, in 1556, with Giambattista Della Porta, the man who first recorded the technique behind the “Pepper’s Ghost” effect (how light passing through angled glass can create a floating 3-D object). Next, we have what I’ve categorized as the three distinct stages of holograms: the early days (early development in magic shows); the age of Henry, Henry & Henry (patenting and the gold rush to capitalized on live stage productions); and the digital age (modern use of holograms). It was awesome to be able to pay my respects to this history and the amazing engineers who came before me in this line of technology. A big thanks again to Dr. Reeves for having me, the class for being a great audience, and Middle Georgia State University for giving me a unique opportunity to recruit talent I wouldn’t know otherwise.
