Had such a great time last week representing University of Chicago Education Lab at HolonIQ 'Back to School' Summit in NYC. As districts are facing a steep fiscal cliff with the expiration of federal relief dollars, it's more important than ever for the contracts they develop to be based on student growth. What a week. I had a great couple of days with the team HolonIQ at the HolonIQ 'Back to School' Summit. I am super thankful to Margaret H., Maria Spies, and Patrick Brothers for having me join to talk about both the work of the EDSAFE AI Alliance and responsible AI in education AND the work of The Pathways Alliance with educator apprenticeships and the scale that we have achieved. I loved sharing with folks how we make decisions about what we do at InnovateEDU. I loved two days of passionate, innovative, and purposeful people coming together on our shared mission to evolve into a learning ecosystem. And grateful for a fun dinner hosted by Whiteboard Advisors and an amazing kickoff hosted by Western Governors University. Loved joining Courtney Hills McBeth from Western Governors University, Matthew Connell, Ed.D. of Ivy Tech Community College, and the fabulous moderator Jessica Porten Hinkle of Strada Education Foundation — for an insightful conversation about scaling innovation in higher education. The panel was fire! I also treasured the opportunity in moderating a conversation by Calvin J. Watts, Ed.D. from Gwinett County Public Schools and Asst. Secretary Roberto Rodriguez from U.S. Department of Education on AI and district policy. I built some Legos, took night walks in the city with friends (celebrated James Earl Jones, mourned those lost on 9/11, played too much debate bingo), and remembered why New York will ALWAYS be my town.

????????????: quick and light in movement or action; agile.? ? This was one of the words I heard repeatedly during the HolonIQ 'Back to School' Summit in New York.? ? With all the changes we're facing due to technological advancements, we, as leaders, must act with agility and adaptability. New avenues are emerging to close the gap in education, and it's crucial to recognize that non-traditional methods (such as micro-credentials) are helping meet the needs of various industries. ?????????????????????????? and ?????????????????????????? are key elements in this effort.? ? On the first day, my colleague Jorge A. Valentine, EdD, CAPM and I had the privilege of participating in roundtables with other leaders in the fields of Philanthropy and Education.? ? I also had the opportunity to attend the Milken Penn-GSE Education Business Plan Competition ??. Considered the most prestigious and well-funded competition of its kind, this event celebrates and nurtures purpose-driven ventures aimed at addressing systemic inequities in education through innovation. It was incredibly inspiring to hear the pitches from the finalist startups and to witness the award ceremony.? ? On the second day, I attended several sessions organized into three tracks:? ? -Technology & Finance? ???? -Higher Education & Workforce? ???? -Philanthropy & Foundations? ???? A whirlwind 2 days in New York City for the HolonIQ 'Back to School' Summit! During a busy season of work and life, grateful for the opportunity to see and reconnect with so many clients and colleagues—and convene on important issues that are affecting students and the broader higher education landscape. A few key highlights were hearing about real-world solutions to the student mental health crisis with Jonathan Koppell and Michael London, the intersection of AI and student support with Ruth Bauer White, 'grow-your-own' models with Dana Stephenson and Jane Swift, and reconnecting with good friends Mark David Milliron and Thomas Stewart, Ph.D. from National University (home of the Navigators #WingsUp). Congrats on a great summit, Maria Spies and Patrick Brothers!

Great to be back in NYC and contribute to the HolonIQ 'Back to School' Summit. This annual event has truly established itself as a world's leading conference for global education executives, policymakers, philanthropists, and investors. This year's summit featured three discussion tracks: delving into the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, exploring breakthroughs in research and philanthropic funding effectiveness, addressing Higher Education's digital transformation challenges, including recruitment, retention, and cutting-edge educational technologies. I had the privilege of moderating a session on "Technology Infrastructure for Tomorrow's Schools," alongside an exceptional panel of experts.
