PlanStronger? Quarterly Market Update Period Ending?September 30, 2024 Market and Economic Commentary Both equity and bond investors experienced healthy returns during the past quarter (July through September – see below sections).?The big story across the economy has shifted from inflation to the health of the labor market.?As inflation (slowly) approaches the Federal Reserve’s 2% annual inflation target, Mr. Jerome Powell and other members of the Federal Open Market Committee have shifted their attention from the first of two directives mandated by Congress – Price Stability (inflation) – to full employment (the labor market).?This shift gave the Federal Reserve (the “Fed”) cover to begin its rate-cutting cycle on?September 18th.?And cut they did.?Not by only 0.25%, which is usually the incremental amount used for raising or cutting rates, but by 0.50%.?Based on the latest jobs numbers, the markets both wanted and expected such a cut, and stocks and bonds rallied both before and after the decision.?During the first full week of September, the ADP Employment Change disappointed with the addition of only 99,000 jobs, while expectations were for 150,000.?A couple of days later, the Nonfarm Payrolls likewise came in lower than anticipated.?Moving into the last quarter of 2024, and right into another earnings season, we shall eagerly await corporate feedback to see if the resilient American consumer is still going strong, or if their purchasing power is waning.??Continue Reading Here: https://lnkd.in/eDcHKqM5 ??David Dean Holland Holland Financial #planstronger #marketupdate???????

The impact of the strike on consumers and investors will largely depend on how long it goes on. Additionally, they examine recent events involving Israel and Iran, which have heightened tensions in the Middle East. Oil prices are up, but is this really a cause for concern with investors?
