Mission 452 Booked! US Army #soldier Thien is headed home! 4 missed Christmas Days! In his words… “Serving my country is a privilege I am fortunate to have in my life. I don't think I'm a hero, I'm just trying to protect the best for my family, my children, my friends, the people I know around me. For some reason, my wife and children haven't been able to move with me yet so it would be great if I could return to them this Christmas. This is our first time having Chrismas together after 4 years we far away . This program is very meaningful to soldiers far from home like me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

US Navy #Sailor Samad is heading home to #Texas for the holidays, thanks to a donor from Saturday! Mission 451! “I’m YNSA Samad, I haven’t seen my family over a year and trying to surprise them for the holidays. My parents and siblings haven’t seen me since i left for bootcamp, I’m want to get home to see my little brothers n older sisters. It’s been hard trying to communicate back home with the 8 hour time difference and work schedules. I’m thankful for fighting for this free country and the sponsor who donates for me to get to my family.” HolidaysfortheHeroes.org

Today, I would like to thank my fellow #veterans, their spouses, and their children for their sacrifices in service to our country. Luckily, my five years in the United States Air Force were a period of peace in our country. I spent most of my time in a three-foot-thick building maintaining air traffic control mainframes. If we did not have the systems back up and running within 90 seconds of failure, we were told every plane on the ground in the western US had to be scrambled into the air. I was 19 years old and running a shift of others doing the same work. I remember my boss blindfolding us and timing us with stopwatches as we hand-loaded S registers, card readers, and paper tapes. Though I am a veteran, there are "levels" of veterans in my eyes. The men and women who served in combat in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Afghanistan, and other hot spots are next-level veterans in my eyes. They should be revered by all of us who have been protected by the sacrifices they have made and continue to make. My son-in-law is serving in a hot spot as we speak, and I think about him every day. If you know a veteran, please take a second to thank them. Many of them remain silent for various reasons. They will appreciate your acknowledgment and moment of respect. Thank you to my extended military family - past, present, and future. Holidays For The Heroes

Mission 447! Ticketed! US Navy #Sailor Uzziel is headed home to his family for Christmas, thanks to a donation that should get 2-3 folks home! In his words… “I just wanted to start off and say thank you for this opportunity. I was just deployed onboard USS (Ship same deleted for anonymity) and now I am at school far from home. I will be transferring and due to some complications I have to leave my family behind again. I missed out on my son’s first birthday, his first walk, and his first word due to my deployment. And now I’m going to miss out on Thanksgiving because of school. I really need that extra help for me to get home for Christmas and The New Year. “ Thank you donor!! Holidaysfortheheroes.org

I would like to thank Spartan, Joe De Sena, Be Au Sm, Joshua Peach, and the 8 other racers who raced with me at the Spartan Race at #FenwayPark in beautiful #Boston this morning. We raised some money for HFTH through this effort and I am thankful. 5K ish, 60 pound sandbags up and down bleachers, ropes, wall climbs, several sets of burpees, push-ups in the locker room, and a web climbing thing that I had some 8 year old girl kick my butt climbing up and down! Special thanks Ken Wertz, sensing my thin California blood starting to get slushy crystals forming in it, loaned me his sweat pants! True. And the only thing that saved me from being the only Spartan racer ever who froze to death on course. Ed We raised some money to get troops home! Thanks all!

Mission 446 Ticketed! “I have been away from my family for one year. With this trip I will be able to see my brothers, sisters, mom, and grandparents. I’m the oldest of 6 kids with a single mom. Growing up all we had was our grandparents and each other. Last year we lost one of our brothers in a car accident. He and his twin had just graduated before the accident occurred. This trip will be more than a blessing to my family and I to be reunited during the Christmas holiday.” Enjoy Christmas with your family Sailor, a donor had your back! Thank you!
