Hold the Reins offers equine assisted wellness and coaching to SEALs & SWCC. Our focus is on using horses, which are unique animals that have the capability of recognizing the emotions of their human handlers. In this way, they serve as a mirror into the soul for participants to interact, communicate, and become better aware of their emotions. Through this process, a counselor will help SEALs & SWCC work through their unique challenges to become a more purposeful person. With a mission to provide early intervention for active duty Navy SEAL & SWCC operators to decrease divorce and suicide related incidents, Hold the Reins is designed to provide tools that aid in adjusting to the extreme pressures they face throughout their careers; alleviating any trauma that interferes with their ability to lead normal and happy lives.

Imagine a seasoned rider holding the reins of a powerful, spirited horse. The reins, thin yet resilient, are the critical link between the rider's intent and the horse's actions, conveying subtle shifts in pressure that guide the horse through the terrain. Similarly, for military special operations service members grappling with post-traumatic stress, their emotions are like that horse—strong, unpredictable, and sometimes overwhelming. The challenge lies in finding the right "reins" of communication—those delicate but vital tools that allow them to express their inner turmoil. Just as the rider learns to communicate through gentle tugs and releases, service members must find their own way to convey the depth of their experiences, seeking understanding and control over emotions that, if left unchecked, can lead to chaos. Communication, like the reins, becomes a lifeline, transforming raw, unspoken pain into a path toward healing. https://lnkd.in/eXB4Cn9c
