Meet Ashleigh Stringer: Ashleigh plays a dynamic role at Hol-Mac, where every day presents a new challenge. One day, she may be entering new hires into the system, and the next, she could be addressing and resolving employee conflicts. Ashleigh is responsible for managing all FMLA cases across multiple locations, enrolling new eligible employees in benefits, and handling a variety of other tasks. According to Ashleigh, what makes Hol-Mac a great place to work is its strong sense of community and the care it shows for employees, where every team member is treated like family. Her advice to young women considering a career in manufacturing is to explore different roles and find what excites them. She encourages building a supportive network of mentors and peers, always continuing to learn, and being confident in their abilities. Ashleigh believes that waiting until you feel 100% prepared can hold you back from great opportunities, as growth often happens in discomfort, and you’ll learn as you go. Meet Sophia Hellams: Sophia Hellams is a Continuous Improvement Engineer at Hol-Mac Corporation, where she focuses on growing the company’s continuous improvement culture and leads rapid improvement workshops. She also manages the MEPS and MPS training programs, helping to foster a learning environment for her team. Originally from Miami, Sophia enjoys the friendly atmosphere at Hol-Mac and values the opportunity to learn something new every day. Her advice for young women considering a career in manufacturing? “Work hard, be honest, kind, and always willing to learn. Believe in yourself, and you can accomplish anything.” Despite challenges in being taken seriously at times, she remains focused on her goals and believes hard work leads to success. Meet Sydney Holifield: Sydney Holifield is a Floater at HMC, where she moves between various tasks, whether it's operating machines or assisting welders. Some days, she focuses on one machine, while other days, she might work in multiple areas. Sydney loves working at HMC, especially because of the supportive people and the continuous opportunities to learn and develop new skills. Her advice to young women: "Don't let anyone make you think or feel you're inadequate for the job." As for challenges, Sydney feels she has been treated fairly and equally, facing none that stand out. Her advice to her younger self: "Don't be afraid to take risks!" Aliah Bogan is a Rod Welder at Hol-Mac Hydraulics, where she works on the rod line, ensuring that her blueprints are pulled up, and her first part is checked by her team leader. She enjoys working with her hands and is passionate about the process. Her advice to young women considering a career in this field: "Gender roles don't matter. How you carry yourself and interact with your coworkers is key to earning respect." As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Aliah has faced many challenges, but she overcame them by focusing on her work, staying to herself, and keeping a strong mindset. Meet Christie Wade: Christie has been the Tool Clerk at Hol-Mac Hydraulics for nearly 28 years, managing tooling inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring production runs smoothly. She works closely with the Manufacturing & Engineering team and serves as a longtime safety committee member. A proud hometown native, she values the challenges of her role and the strong relationships she has built over the years. When she started, there were few women in manufacturing, but she earned respect through hard work and a willingness to learn. She encourages young women to pursue careers in the industry, knowing that with determination and the right mindset, they can succeed. Help us celebrate Christie and her 28 years at HMC! ?? Meet Earlene Scarbrough: Earlene works in the Research and Development Engineering office, preparing engineering packages for production and updating service and operator manuals. She uses the mainframe system, SolidWorks, and DraftSight, and also assists in training new employees. She finds training to be one of the biggest challenges, as everyone learns differently. Having been with HMC for many years, she values the company’s family-oriented culture. Her advice to young women entering the industry? Always give your best, be open to learning different roles, and continue your education. If she could give her younger self career advice, it would be: Stay curious and keep learning—because that’s what shapes your career. Thank you, Earlene, for your years of dedication!
