Yesterday was truly a day to remember at the University of Arkansas, as the Kristen Collier Wright Office of Study Abroad & Intl. Exchange had the privilege of hosting Marlene Johnson, former Lt. Governor of Minnesota as well as former President and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, on campus. Marlene spoke at a Women in Leadership luncheon, presented by the Society of Women Engineers, which brought together students and staff for a meaningful discussion about leadership, resiliency and empowerment. Following the luncheon, Marlene led a NAFSA Coffee Chat with staff from University of Arkansas Graduate School and International Education where we had the incredible opportunity to learn from her vast experience and wisdom. Marlene was in Fayetteville to promote her new book, Rise to the Challenge: A Memoir of Politics, Leadership, and Love, and I highly recommend giving it a read! It was a powerful and inspiring day, and I’m so grateful to everyone who contributed to making it a success. Thank you to our partners, CEA CAPA Education Abroad, for sponsoring the day.
