关于我们

Utah's Hogle Zoo creates champions for wildlife. We are located in Salt Lake City at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Our property spans over 42 acres of hillside terrain and is home to diverse resident animals. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy hundreds of animals in Wild Utah, African Savanna, Great Apes, Primate Forest, Small Animal Building, Rocky Shores, and Asian Highlands. Families can also enjoy a spin on the carousel or let the little ones explore the playground or splash pad. As a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, Utah's Hogle Zoo meets and exceeds the highest animal care, welfare, and facilities standards in the world as an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) -- a distinction given to only 10% of animal institutions. Utah’s Hogle Zoo is grateful to be part of the Zoo, Arts, & Parks (ZAP) program. ZAP aims to enhance Salt Lake County resident and visitor experiences through art, cultural, and recreational offerings. Utah's Hogle Zoo welcomes resourceful employees passionate about preserving the natural world and taking our mission to heart. Every position, from cashier to keeper, is vital to creating champions for wildlife each day.

Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, known as the "polar bear capital of the world," sits on the western coast of Hudson Bay at the mouth of the Churchill River. It draws hundreds of polar bears that come to hunt seals on the sea ice as winter sets in. This unique town is home to Polar Bears International (PBI) the world’s leading polar bear conservation organization. Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a proud partner of PBI. In 2022, Rocky Shores Senior Keeper Kimmy McIntyre traveled to Churchill to gain insights on polar bear conservation and share knowledge on Arctic protection.?Returning in October 2024 as a field ambassador, Kimmy led tours to educate visitors on?Arctic sea?ice, polar bear adaptations, and the ongoing impact of climate change on the region.? Hello from Asian Highlands! We are so excited to welcome one-year-old Chinese red panda, William, to Utah’s Hogle Zoo! William joins us from Lincoln Children's Zoo as part of our transition to Chinese red panda care, allowing for future breeding opportunities. William is a cautiously curious Chinese red panda, eager to explore new surroundings and enrichment opportunities. William’s care team describes him as a smart panda who enjoys training and learning new behaviors and especially loves snack time with fruit or bamboo.? ? Chinese red pandas are well-equipped for life in Utah – they tend to live in colder climates and have larger bodies and longer fur to help keep them warm. With their reddish fur, striped tails, and darker facial markings, these pandas are similar to Himalayan red pandas and face the same threats: habitat loss, degradation, and poaching.? ? William’s arrival comes after former Himalayan red panda, MowMow, departed Hogle Zoo on a breeding recommendation from the Red Panda Species Survival Plan (SSP).? ? Native to the mountainous forests of China, India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar, red pandas belong to their own family, Ailuridae. They are divided into two species: Ailurus fulgens fulgens (Himalayan red pandas, like MowMow) and Ailurus fulgens styani (Chinese red pandas, like William). Through our partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) and several recommendations, we have transferred our care from Himalayan red pandas to Chinese red pandas. We are so excited to welcome William to the Hogle Zoo family! You can visit him now in Asian Highlands. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dh4aNs39

Meet Juniper, a gray fox who found a home at Hogle Zoo in 2023 after being abandoned as a young kit in New Mexico.?Nicknamed “Junie” by her care teams,?Juniper?was born with congenital hydrocephalus – a condition that causes a buildup of fluid around her brain – and has lost most of her eyesight as a result. ? Due to this condition, Juniper requires high levels of care from her animal care team, veterinarians, and Hogle Zoo’s health partners. ?? Juniper receives regular anti-inflammatory medicines and her care team closely monitors her appetite, weight, and watches for any neurological signs. Juniper stays active and curious despite the challenges, enjoying enrichment activities and a specially adapted training program designed to help her thrive. ? ?? Training Juniper requires patience and dedication,?and we are lucky to have a team of keepers deeply committed to enhancing?the?quality of life for this sweet,?smart, and determined fox. ?
