Our annual ESG GameChangers Summit in London was back for 2024 bringing a dynamic mix of perspectives, with business leaders, policymakers, lawyers, and scientists debating the complexities of ESG. This year, we focused on the theme of “Risk and Reward,” delving into the often-competing priorities within the ESG space. We were thrilled to welcome renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox CBE FRS to share his inspiring vision for our future, one that requires us to recognize human significance and our responsibility to preserve our universe and human life. Key highlights of the event included a thought-provoking debate chaired by partner Bryony Widdup and Sophie Lambin, CEO of Kite Insights, who led the room through an animated discussion on whether “The free market has climate action in shackles.” This engaging session challenged our biases and helped foster a nuanced understanding of how market forces impact sustainability efforts. We also gained practical insights through our panel discussion on “Managing ESG Risk and Opportunity,” where partner Rita Hunter moderated our conversation with voices from business and in-house counsel. To round off a fantastic afternoon, our guests enjoyed a sustainable, seasonal menu featuring some of the UK’s first Net Zero producers – an experience in sustainable dining to complement the day’s insights.
