During our closing ceremonies, the University at Albany announced that they are awarding all HOBY New York ambassadors a $1,000 per year scholarship if they choose to attend UAlbany for college! This incredible opportunity recognizes the leadership of our newest alumni and supports their educational journey. Our morning started with a discussion about inclusive leadership. True leadership thrives on inclusivity. We heard from Sam Caldwell, Chief Diversity Officer at the University at Albany, who spoke this morning on the power and importance of inclusive leadership. Sue Lintner from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY kicked off our day of service talking about combatting food insecurity for every neighbor in need. Ambassadors were asked to assemble Little Houses using only materials provided to them in a folder. However, some groups had a bunch of materials while other groups had very few materials. This was a great exercise to visualize the impact of unequal food resources, which can lead to food insecurity and food poverty. Thank you, Sue!
